6GP had an afternoon of practising our javelin skills in the sunshine ☀️

They were a hit!

We spent the morning cooking traditional Slovakian dumplings! We loved learning about how to create our own dough, roll it out and cut, fill and crimp our dumplings!

Did you know that the parachute was invented by a Slovakian man named Stefan Banic, during WW1? Inspired by this, 6GP are designing and creating their own parachutes this afternoon. Stay tuned for the Easter egg drop this afternoon! 👀

💥6GP have reached a very exciting stage in our DT Automata project!💥 After being given a design brief and sketching some initial designs, we learned about cam mechanisms. Today we built prototypes to test the movement of our mechanisms. LOTS of problem solving/resilience was needed! #SAPSSTEM

Today in 6GP, we started to explore coding through Scratch. Half of us explored using devices, whilst the rest of us played ‘Human Scratch’. We used the coding blocks to direct our ‘sprite’ and quickly learned that an algorithm needs to be precise, or it can quickly go wrong!

6GP explored the work of Henri Rousseau today. They chose how they would respond his work ‘Surprised. Tiger in a tropical storm.’

We loved the lecture theatre!

6GP had a great day at Cardiff University today! We explored architecture, computer science and music ⭐

Year 6 had a visit from Cardiff University earlier this week…
We learnt lots about what university is and the exciting things to do there.
We were shocked to find out you can even get a degree in ‘Surf Science’ !🌊🏄‍♀️
It’s made us even more excited about our trip to the university very soon!

6MF took part in a workshop with an Air Raid Warden who transported us all the way back to 1939. We then explored the public Anderson shelter and climbed all the way to the top of the keep!
