Vote NO on the SAVE Act! The SAVE Act is a trick to undermine our voting rights. Urge Congress to vote no on the SAVE ACT.

TIL that “Rent Now, Pay Later” loans exist and I’m furious about it.

Predatory lending—whether it’s Pay Day, Title, or now Rental Contract/Leasing Loans—extracts funds from the most vulnerable populations with no real benefit to anyone but the lenders.

The comparisons of edtech rollout for virtual learning during covid to generative AI today ignores the trauma teachers, students, & parents were all dealing with at the time.

We now have other types of stress, but focus on grades is a persistant stressor. How do we reduce that? #AIAndStudents

Tuition paid by international students is a driver of the American economy. Yet, the $44-billion case for foreign education doesn’t seem to resonate anymore. Why? chroni.cl/45AzOE9

Why do qualitative methods papers always like to refer to data quality in terms of “richness and thickness”?

It just makes me hungry for really decadent desserts… that sugar crash is not gonna help me finish these revisions.

Reviewing job applications that are primarily generated with AI is absolutely mind numbing.

Pro tip: When you use AI to draft responses to questions in an application or your cover letter, it reads like literally every other application.

So don’t.
*Draft it yourself.*
Then use AI for corrections

Major Education Resource Set to Shut Down This Week The federal Department of Education maintains an open access database of more than 2 million documents dating back to the 1960s. It will cease operating Wednesday due to DOGE cuts.

ERIC!

“ERIC is scheduled to run out of money on April 23. After that date, no new documents can be added.”

Colleagues, this is catastrophic for educational research.

I’ve felt for a long time that researchers and academics are viewed as elite and out of touch by much of society because they fail to spread knowledge to the public in plain language terms.

I’m glad one thing coming from this horrible attack on science is improvement in science communication.

This DoE to SBA loan transfer feels like a shell game.

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

DoE doesn’t even service loans. They have contracted servicers to do that. Right now, there are 7 different servicers student loan borrowers could be assigned to.

SBA won’t be able to handle servicing either so they will also need to contract with external servicers.

What Are FFELP Student Loans? - NerdWallet FFELP student loans are federally backed student loans originally funded by private lenders. The FFEL Program ended in 2010, but you may still be repaying them.

DoE tried a program similar to the SBA process for small businesses called FFEL.

It was retired in 2010 and borrowers who’ve been paying on those loans for over 10 years are often still confused on their rights. www.nerdwallet.com/article/loan...

The PPP loans had so many issues with fraud and lack of due diligence.

Many loans ended up being forgiven & borrowers can still apply for forgiveness, which is more than what public servants can do right now.
