it's been 84 years with this paragraph and I'm still fighting the wish to put "and her barbie" after writing "beyond her ken", please wish me luck.

80s animation though! (I am still traumatised by The Return Of Tambelon, a My Little Pony cartoon...).

Somehow I've never got round to them (although I'm very familiar with Follyfoot). They're an absolute delight to discover!

Cuckoo in the Nest by Michelle Magorian Cuckoo in the Nest by Michelle Magorian My rating: 4 of 5 stars I had mixed memories of this. I had remembered it as being a bit stiff to read and something that I was not even sure I had finished. Yet Michelle Magorian is one of my favourite writers (A Little Love Song, for example, is something very close to perfection) and when I recently saw a copy of Cuckoo In The Nest, I knew it was time to try again with it. This is one of the great things about literature - and particularly children's and young adult, the door is never closed.

An Occasional Podcast About Children’s Literature – Episode Two Hello everyone. One of the things I've been working on this year is a very occasional podcast about children's literature. This is, as the title may suggest, a terribly sporadic deep dive into the world of children's literature and it now has two episodes available. I've been doing a sort of very soft launch on it and working out a lot as I go (things like swapping host and changing the title in episode two....) so it will have some rough edges. I hope they are not too rough. The first episode is on Angela Brazil.

Introducing Episode Two of An Occasional Podcast About Children’s Literature: Enid Blyton I was always going to end up doing a podcast episode about Enid Blyton. She is a figure that I've been fascinated with for forever and am yet to fully understand. A contradiction, a brand, an unknowable knowable woman. It took me a while to find the words and I'm hopeful that episode two of An Occasional Podcast About Children's Literature gets them in the right order. Or at least, that it begins the process of getting them in the right order. The observant amongst you will notice a few changes around Project Podcast.

This has reminded me of the time I joked about Titanic (the film) and then had to explain no, I wasn't making fun of Titanic, the maritime disaster.
