Splatoon is no more niche in the West than DK or Kirby, & it's seen by Nintendo as one of their core pillar IPs.

Given how far into 2025 it looks to be, it's mostly just the cost of producing Switch 2s. I'd imagine that the tariff & AI bubble hit would come later.
