There is a new, open access anthology (=great teaching resource) about _Women's healthcare in ancient Mesopotamia in the first millennium BCE_ edited by Ulrike Steinert. search.worldcat.org/title/Women'... I would then combine this with the ancient medicine sourcebook www.ucpress.edu/books/medici...
And we've got three different takes on research for medieval games from the worlds of indie TTRPGs (James Holloway, @gonzohistory.bsky.social), academia (Robert Houghton, @robehoughton.bsky.social), and AAA games (Maxime Durand):

As an em-dash enjoyer, one more reason to be in the anti-genAI corner.
And no, this post doesn’t have an em-dash. They’re precious, like semi-colons.
Three game exhibits at the Museum of Modern Art.
New Blog: Let Games Die
"Let Code Die is rooted in a trust that if we have code that we like and we lose it, we can write it again. What would it mean to trust ourselves as game developers, designers, critics and players in the same way?"

I submitted mine!!
I'm very much in favour of creative approaches to games preservation!
(Also this mentions my work on anticipatory grief and play preservation)
We've now extended the paper deadline to April 12th!
It’s truly heartbreaking that Palads is being torn down. For 3 years I passed it every day on my way to work, and would go watch films there too. It’s a beautiful building and a special part of central Copenhagen.
I was a guest on the podcast What We Did Before, where I talk about all things ancient games! Check it out here: pod.fo/e/3d24b5
And we now have a full roster of speakers confirmed, including Emmie-Rose Price-Goodfellow of You're Dead To Me, Kate Wiles of @historytoday.com, @estelleprnq.bsky.social on social media and @drsurekhadavies.bsky.social on building a freelance career.
I can’t process x-files reboot at this time of night!!!!!!

And there’s a lot more exciting stuff in the works around Egypt and games
Haha! Thanks.
Matteo shared this with me this morning from their insta account! Looks cool. I’ll be checking it out.
Heidi Hilliker, wearing a U-M Middle East Studies crewneck, stands next to the “Learning Through Play” case and exhibit panel in the Kelsey Museum. The vitrine contains full-size and miniature ancient tools, as well as modern toys related to weaving and sewing.
Play has shaped how children have learned for millennia. Ancient mini weaving and spinning tools show how children developed craft skills through imitation and practice. Come see “Learning Through Play: Childhood and Textile Craft in Roman Egypt,” curated by Heidi Hilliker, on view until May 25.🧵
My entry for the Claremont Coptic Encyclopedia, "Memnonia: Update" is now available online, open access: ccdl.claremont.edu/digital/coll...
