And didn’t want a garaged car for those cold northern mornings.

No, apparently sadly not.
Yes. According to the Arts Council we are “South East”. Which irks me beyond words.
I’m impressed with bits of the Castle. My biggest concern is that other non Keep areas have languished. There are some serious drains/something problems as the last two times I have been there the stench in some of the gallery spaces has been so unbearable I’ve had to leave those spaces.
Large textile panel with from top to bottom, an 1820 admiralty map of the North Atlantic and Arctic, a scene of Arctic whaling and a whale in shades of blue.
Feeling good this morning because over the weekend I came up with a way forward for editing my (creative?) non fiction manuscript on the History of British Arctic Whaling. I’ve been at a loss for months and this is such a relief.
10/10 no notes.
Be kind to yourself.

Embroidery in a hoop showing the evolution over time of cartographic interpretations of the coastline around Kings Bay, Spitsbergen
Commemorative embroidered tarpaulin harpoon cover outside the Scott Polar Research Institute in Cambridge
Embroidery of krill and whale distribution around South Georgia, in hand embroidery
Just finished giving a talk to an embroidery guild in Vancouver (via zoom, sadly) about my map related textile work. Which seemed to go down well.

This study sampled whale baleen from museum specimens to study long term hormone patterns in bowhead whales 🐋 . The results provide clues into whale reproduction and stress over decades, while providing a useful baseline for future research.

Yep, spent an uncomfortable part of Good Friday sprawled on the floor next to ours draining the water out of a tube 4 inches off the floor as a miniscule knot of hair in the filter had clogged it up.
Our review on the evolutionary arms race between copepods and diatoms is now published in @aslo.org #ASLO_LO 🌊
We discuss the most common defense mechanisms found in diatoms, and how copepods have evolved to overcome them. Check it out #openaccess

Anyone have a contact at the Samudrika Naval Marine Museum, Andaman & Nicobar Islands? I'm looking for more details on the whale skeleton they display (year of stranding, sex, length, exact location, etc.):

The reason Moby Dick is the most American novel ever written is because it is about a violent white man enacting a confusing revenge fantasy against a cheap source of oil.
Hurrah!
Two chocolate bunnies on a white background. The caption over the one with the tail missing says "my arse hurts" whist the one with the ears bitten off says "what?" I post this picture every easter without fail.
Happy Easter
A panoramic shot of a car boot sale in a Tesco car park. People clustered around tables covered in stuff. The sky is blue.
A pedestrian crossing leads enticingly to a car park where, in the distance people are milling around items displayed on tables and on tarps on the ground. The weather is pretty good and I was not tempted to make any purchases.
Completed my annual pilgrimage to the car boot sale held in the #Thetford Tesco car park. The sea of humanity and some tempting jigsaw puzzles.

In my mid teens in the 80s my mum had mental health issues and I found a refuge in Brighton reference library using the microfiche and reading the encyclopaedias.
