Public humiliation is still a common teaching tool in medical education. Here’s how it leaves patients worse off Many doctors become reluctant to ask questions or seek help when uncertain. This is exactly the opposite of what most patients want in a doctor making crucial decisions about their care.

This kind of teaching has no place anywhere. It harms everyone — so let’s start in undergrad teaching and learning by building students up rather than punching them down. #teachingandlearning #highered #highereducation theconversation.com/public-humil...

When I got overwhelmed with requests for grad studies references, I created a form for students to fill out so that I could write a great letter. Feel free to adapt and use as you like!

Wrapping up before the holiday this week and realized… good news! My pal @tkedmunds.bsky.social and I didn’t get a desk rejection on an article we submitted weeks ago! No news is good news! #academia #academictwitter

The most important question I ask myself when planning class activities (either online or f2f): “Would I want to do this activity if I were a student?” If the answer is no, I don’t assign it in class. #highered #teachingandlearning #collegeteaching #universityteaching #SoTL

Student mental health alert: It is “turkey drop” season — fall semester is when most breakups happen on college/uni campuses. Now is a great time to be extra compassionate and believe students when they are struggling. For many it is the first big breakup of their lives.
