In spiritual direction, I facilitate spaces for spiritual healing, connection, and growth. I currently have openings for new individuals, and could form a small group if there's enough interest.

Did I share my sentimental relationship with Wizard of Oz and personal history with musical theater while also referencing how René Girard's theology of mimetic desire helps us see Elphaba as a Christ-figure amid the Pharisaical society of Oz?

Are you (or someone you know) looking for a space to explore your spiritual journey? Not a Bible study or theological debate, but a place for personal reflection on how you're experiencing God in everyday life?
I offer you this sermon from a few years ago, where we go deep into Psalm 22 and upend a problematic theology that many of us have learned.
May these words bring you deeper to God's heart as we reflect on the cross today.

At about 3 o'clock, Jesus cried out the beginning of Psalm 22 from the cross, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
What does Psalm 22 tell us about God? What does it tell us about the cross? What did Jesus mean when he cried out these words?

I have new openings and availability for spiritual direction.
I have had the sacred honor to accompany people in church hurt and deconstruction, those searching for deeper spiritual experience, and pastors in need of support and care.

Group meetings would include spiritual practices, story telling, teaching, and discussion. Outside of the group there would be some reading and reflection. Joining would involve commitment to attending and participating in meetings. There would probably be a small fee.
What do you think?
Throwing out an idea to gather interest...

What if you were as interested in your own story as you were in the show/movie/book you've most recently been into?
What if there were missionaries whose mission field was the church? Instead of planting new churches, they joined existing churches to bring life and bridge generations. The apostles always started their mission at the local synagogue. Perhaps modern missionaries could start with local churches?
Yeah... The only hurdle

I was just discussing spiritual gifts with a group last night and wrestling with how difficult it is to "claim" them... It seems like they need to be received... enacted... embodied... This article came at the perfect time. Thank you so much!

If you've caught the Wicked craze but are in a Christmas mood, consider reading "The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus" by L. Frank Baum, the author of Wizard of Oz (and namesake of Elphaba) and it is filled with all kinds of enchanting characters and settings! www.goodreads.com/book/show/71...
Over the last year it two, I rebranded it as "Conversation Hour" in which I facilitate an open conversation around recent sermons, passages of Scripture, or spiritual themes. It's pretty casual and freeform.
