yeah at the moment it’s basically useless. i think in a bit i’ll set up an xrpc route so it stays an appview secret you can set in the editor and thus an actual secret. i’ll have to lean into this being an appview service

i removed the early upserting because i generally believe read after write is the correct way to go about things and it was how i was always doing it

moral of the story here, truly treat the PDS as source of truth. i was upserting uploaded file CIDs early to the DB without upserting the files too, and then when the firehose got the record, it compared file CIDs and saw that seemingly nothing changed and didnt download changed files.

i also fixed a stupid bug where updating sites from the dashboard wasnt properly fixing sites. im sorry for not noticing for so long. when i have time Ill be creating a proper testing harness to catch this stuff rather than relying on me manually testing each case. this has been a thing for 3 weeks
