BREAKING: The U.S. bishops’ Committee on Doctrine just issued a formal statement defending Pope Leo XIV's teaching authority on just war doctrine — less than twelve hours after JD Vance told a Turning Point USA crowd the pope should “be careful” talking theology.

This is a serious escalation.

The Catholic bishops have just made crystal clear the reason that the pope is right and JD Vance is wrong: A just war can't be a war of choice, which this one clearly is. This is a crucial theological, political, and moral argument, and the clarity here is needed and powerful

Will Doctor Who Ever Have Another Long-Running Doctor Again? I spend an unhealthy amount a lot of time thinking about how the nature of television has changed. Waiting literal years for an eight or ten episode season is not what I want from TV. I don’t care …

With the ever-shrinking length of #TV seasons, will we ever have another actor play the Doctor for a long stretch of time? And what does it mean if we don't see that again? I muse on all this and more in this li'l piece! Huzzah! #DoctorWho

I also have this thing I sometimes use to to brainstorm with and bounce ideas off.

It's called "writer friends" and "an editor" and I really recommend getting some of those rather than using a polluting plagiarism machine made by a technofascist ruling class that probably hates you.

So I watched 'Reality Bites' for (maybe??) the first time last weekend and I was blown away by how reading and being a reader was so central to the love triangle and what Lelaina found attractive. Naturally, I wanted to write about that so here we are! mycomicrelief.wordpress.com/2026/04/01/r...

Most of mine are still in pretty good shape! But that's because I'm kind of crazy and open my mass market paperbacks as little as possible so I don't break the bindings which admittedly makes 'em hard to read as I'm peering into these tiny little cracks 🤣.

1 month ago 1 0 0 0

That's interesting and I guess it all makes sense. Still, it makes me sad. Now I prefer the larger editions as it's easier for me to highlight, underline, and annotate as I read but in my youth I read mass market paperbacks ALL THE TIME.

I’m walking through the mall right now and Los del Río’s “Macarena” is playing. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t suppressing the urge to put down what I’m carrying and DO the Macarena.

I'm exactly the same! It's too much work and that focused intentionality actually makes watching TV so much less fun (and more anxiety-inducing) for me.

I miss that, too! That's how I'd always see the Olympics, just turning it on and seeing what was happening. I think about this all the time. With the Olympics and any TV. I got rid of cable for streaming and now I've ditched most streaming services as I find them wanting and they're so expensive.

My brother and aunt will be LIVING FOR IT. But I’ll just experience it vicariously through their reactions.

Thank you. And it is an awful feeling! It takes what'd be a horrible situation (if the worst is true) and shoots it through with such a lack of respect. I've been thinking of you and sending positive vibes your way since I saw your post. GO YOU for still kicking ass and I hope it all comes out well!

Oh no! I once went in to meet with a new supervisor to tell him I’d accepted another position and he said, “Good! I think you’ll really like who I hired to replace you.” Annnnd that was 40 seconds after telling him I was leaving. Hopefully the notification you got was just a mistake 🤞.

That makes it even more fascinating! I guess Bluesky users are big into reading more than engaging. Which, given the way I tend to use social media, I can totally get behind 😆.

2 months ago 1 0 0 0

I'm always surprised by the number of views I get from Bluesky as I never see that sort of engagement with my pieces or people sharing them. But hey! If it works, it works! And yes, Twitter's become the worst for blog views. Though as long as I've been blogging I've gotten a lot from Facebook.
