Doesn't matter how many times you bomb the middle east, Jesus isn't coming back, and a religion that drives leaders to mass murder kids is barbaric. Christian supremacists say "the US is a Christian nation" to mean "the US is The Best nation". In reality, we are a uniquely destructive nation.

The facts suggest two interpretive frameworks for Iran: a foreign war as a mechanism to destroy democracy at home; and a foreign war as an element of personal corruption by the president of the U.S.

The situation in Minneapolis: even though the ICE presence in the city is greatly reduced, and national attention has moved on, a huge portion of our population remains essentially in hiding, devastating the schools and economy. In particular, much of the education system remains in crisis

A somewhat janky digital rendering of the 60s version of the USS Enterprise rendered in greenish grays with orange highlights on the front of the nacelles and the deflector dish. There is a burst of whooshing rays behind it but the background is the default natural paper color I’ve been using and not space black. Reddish-orange text around the ship set in a Star Trek TOS font reads β€˜Maybe it will happen today’.

AMERICAN CAESAR is available for pre-order.

"Onishi traces the strange alliance between spiritual warfare and Silicon Valley libertarianism. At the center of it all is the desire for an unbound executiveβ€”one man, beyond checks, beyond balance, beyond democracy."

In my experience it is impenetrable. I once told my mom her repeating rhetoric that liberals were evil really bothered me, that it hurt my feelings and made me feel unloved and unwelcome. She proceeded to play the victim, crying and saying β€œI just want to say what I believe in my own house.”

Ya, bike accident right?
I do find being fastidious about the exercise definitely helps with overuse injuries (for me frozen shoulder and achilles tendonitis). But I'm always confused when PTs recommend only stretching or only strength exercises, so this domain still feels murky to me.

Nice!
My resolution for 2025 was to not have to have any of these exercises assigned to me (or need additional thera-bands!) ... aka "don't get injured challenge". That being said, I do some of these type of things to prevent injuries now.

On this Dr. MLK, Jr. Day I want to uplift his 1967 Riverside Church speech that connected US imperialism with racialized capitalism at home. But it also presents a vision for economic justice. This was a call for a revolution of values and his message remains urgent and timely.

To recap: the two major parties refuse to rein in the reign of a demented sociopathic king who daily is marching us into both World War III and the next Civil War simultaneously because a Black president once made fun of him and also the Special Boy wasn't given the Shiny Golden Medal he covets

Good morning, beloved.

β€œDarkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

-Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Today is a great day to overcome evil with good.

I’ve been meaning to get ahold of some from that era. I think I saw a couple of the Police Story films like 20 years ago.

I’m not sure which ones are made in Hong Kong. So far everything uses overdubbing so maybe some of those are the Hong Kong crew. He has seen First Strike and Rumble in the Bronx. I also just bought Who Am I? on eBay. I remember that was probably my favorite.

Fighting the Demoralizing Power of American Surreality My fellow bugbears, I want to wish you all a happy New Year, but the phrase feels a bit awkward given how off the rails the illegitimate American regime has been since the beginning of the year. If y...

The Bugbear Dispatch is back to help us American bugbears navigate 2026!

If you had to describe the first two weeks of this year in one word, which would you pick?

For me, the word is surreal. Here I discuss the situation and my thoughts on how to cope:
