Booker: "I confess that I have been imperfect. I confess that I've been inadequate to the moment. I've confess that the Democratic Party has made terrible mistakes that gave a lane to this demagogue. I confess we all must look in the mirror and say 'we will do better.'"

I may be tired and a little hoarse, but as I said again and again on the Senate floor, this is a moment where we cannot afford to be silent, when we must speak up.

Two killer whales surface in dark, glassy waters with a forested island in the background.

There was a moment this evening when the whole world was just calm water, two whales surfacing in unison, and nothing greater or less than that.

A female killer whale spyhops next to the towering dorsal fin of an adult male. It’s gray and overcast and in the distance the outline of a heavily forested island covers the horizon.

It was a cold, wet afternoon but it’s easy to forget about both of those things in the moment when you’re watching wild killer whales. T019 spyhops beside her son, T019B in Boundary Pass yesterday.

@orcawatcher.bsky.social and I had an interesting encounter with Bigg’s killer whale, T046D, Thursday and it included him vocalizing through the hull of the boat. This video is about the audio. We did not have a hydrophone down. At times he would be 200+ yards away and we could still hear him.

My week in thirty one seconds. This curious female calf of known mom, “TW”, was really intrigued by the aliens in her world. What a privilege.

No, a humpback whale cannot swallow a human.

This cannot happen and did not happen.

And if they’re just using that phrase to guilt someone into helping them or doing something for them then that’s highly problematic as well.
