Today we lined the halls of Albany to make our voices heard, and dropped off over a thousand postcards at Gov. Hochul’s desk calling for New York for All. New Yorkers will settle for nothing less.

I am SO happy that @jessicawhippl17 said yes when I asked her to come and read for our littlest readers!

Jessica Whipple is a poet and author of two children’s picture books: Enough Is... (Tilbury House 2023, illust. Nicole Wong) and I Think I Think a Lot (Free Spirit Publishing 2023, illust. by Josée Bisaillon). Her work for adults has appeared in print and online literary magazines, most recently Philadelphia Stories, ONE ART, McSweeney’s, and Gastronomica: The Journal of Food Studies. “Splinters,” appearing in Door Is a Jar, received a Best of the Net and a Pushcart nomination. She lives in PA and inhabits the places where picture books and poetry intersect.

She’ll be here at Forage reading her stories and signing copies from 1:30-2:30 on Saturday!

The idea that made me a picture book author was also my 1st published book. Today is the 3 yr book birthday of ENOUGH IS... 😊 Thank you to everyone who has read it, borrowed it, purchased it, invited me to your school, interviewed me, and on and on.

I was depressed last week because I couldn't go to Bologna with the move. So I decided this means I need to go to ALA in Chicago, since I have a client who is going. If there are any publishing folk who want to meet up, I would love to buy you and overpriced convention center beverage! Hit me up!

AI-generated explicit photos are flooding schools. Not much is being done to stem the tide. - The Boston Globe For as little as $4.99, teenagers are uploading photos of their classmates’ faces to “nudify” sites to generate so-called deepfake pornographic pictures of them in an instant.

So glad we're destroying the rain forest for this. www.bostonglobe.com/2026/04/09/m...

Scam emails impersonating editors ‘on the rise’ as author vigilance urged Authors are being “strongly urged” to be vigilant amid a rise in scam emails impersonating editors at publishing houses including Pan Macmillan, Penguin Random House, Bloomsbury, HarperCollins and Hachette.

www.thebookseller.com/news/scam-em... I got one from "Frank Furt" Book Fair asking if I wanted to pay to have my book displayed this morning. They thought I was one of my authors.

I don’t love being in a society where you can sell enough pillows to do meaningful damage to democracy or sell enough children’s books to do a genocide or sell enough chicken sandwiches to abolish gay marriage

That all seems like a ridiculous way to do society to me

If you think No Kings is too vague or insufficiently radical, I sincerely encourage you to go to your local No Kings rally tomorrow and hand out flyers/zines to recruit folks to your org/cause. It's a perfect recruitment event! Thousands of people eager to DO STUFF! Get out there!

I was told it was corned beef because it was the cheapest meat they could find. Is that true?
