Evie, my killer Corgi. Daughter of the wolf. (Sound on)
I will never understand the "I have to start at volume/issue 1" mentality re: western superhero comics
you know who Batman is already, you don't need his full backstory and every single bit of context from the last almost-century to jump into the latest adventure
It turns out the Forest Service dismantling is totally illegal. USDA’s own lawyers know it. They told the agency to do it anyway. Congress passed two laws requiring advance approval before any Forest Service restructuring or relocation.
They're doing it anyway...

Heh. I've avoided reading reviews for decades, but "live off the rain and dirt" is going to stay with me.
as a general reminder, if you can't take joy in the successes of your friends (and even total, random strangers), there is something fundamentally wrong with you and it's probably time to stop and rethink your life.
Mostly who I wanted to be. Wish I could have beaten Death in battle, just the once.
Just checked the Kickstarter, & thanks to our great backers, we’re only $70 from our third stretch goal! Thank you all for the support of my 3 crime books (two brand-new; one no one has seen for 15 years!).

All of us have disappointments in our lives. Places we failed. Missteps in careers, missteps in the arts, for those of us who are artists. Missteps with the people in our lives. But at the end of it all there's just you. You may not be what you wanted to be, but are you who you wanted to be? I am exactly who I wanted to be when I was younger. (Well, not a grandfather yet. But I have hopes there.) I don't know what more you can really ask for. The only thing you can control in the world is the quality of your effort. And if, by that effort, you get to the end feeling good about yourself? You're a winner, buddy.
That said, I didn't write anything of note for two years after my wife had her stroke. I wanted to spend time with her.
If you can't write notes to capture ideas, maybe record memos on your phone. Use language that will brook recall later. I have a drawer full of old notebooks. One note says, "Blonde werewolf." No what I had in in mind when I jotted that down.
Stretching degrades actual athletic performance in the short term, and there's no real evidence it reduces the risk of injury.
But it *does* make you more flexible. That's why you do it. It's an end in itself.
Boy, talk about an easy one.
I'd do what Gene Roddenberry did: hire science fiction writers.
David Gerrold, Harlan Ellison, Norman Spinrad, Robert Bloch, Richard Matheson, Theodore Sturgeon, Fredric Brown (if indirectly) ... Jerome Bixby, DC Fontana, and George Clayton Johnson ...
In Oregon, one can register to vote online, by mail, in person, and through the DMV when getting a license or ID card.
The draft is federal. Voter registration is done by the states, and I suspect if the feds got their hands on it, it would be bad.

My version, done a while back. Telnaes is waaay better ...
Covid stick #13, Moderna.
Who knew the future would be what it is? War, famine, pestilence, death — always with us. I was kinda hoping we might eliminate a few of those by now. Idiocracy empowered by idiots makes that unlikely.
Hang in there. Maybe science and reason will come back into vogue.
Not always. One could use a tool properly. If the point was to get money to folks who need it, that's a greater good than more money for defense spendind, ,in my book.
Me, I won the lottery? Start a foundation, turn it over to my children to run, to give most of it to people who need it. The roof doesn't leak, the old car runs fine. Might buy a new knife or a spear ...

Other caregivers know the feeling, even if they might not recognize their compatriots. When you say it aloud, we nod.
The worst part of being a #caregiver
is the #invisibility.
No one knows what it #costs,
the #time,
no matter how #problematic it is,
no matter how much #effort you put into
what is being taken #care of.
When you #experience a
burst of #rage and #frustration,
no one cares.
You are #alone.
Bathed the dog today. She tolerates this better than most of the dogs who've lived here, and got the zoomies afterward. Tired herself, and conked out next to my office chair. Lovely aroma of still-damp-after-three-towels rising up into the air ...
I AM SO DAMN TIRED
I want to pretend we aren't killing civilians in Iran.
But we are.
I want to pretend Americans will have healthcare.
But they won't.
I want to pretend our president is an upstanding individual.
But he isn't and has never been.
I want to pretend my wife isn't dying,
but she is.
