I’m retired in Iowa now. After I moved here I spontaneously started talking to people in the grocery line. It’s one of the sweetest things about this state.
My Mom grew up in Iowa but raised us kids in San Jose, CA. We would tug on her sleeve and fuss at her when she would talk to people in the grocery line. “Mom, stop! People will think you’re a crazy person”.
