This is also seen in fashion as well with many things from the early 2010s being brought into this Y2K nostalgia when they weren’t really Y2K but instead like 2000 to 2013.

Which ideas like this would explain why things like DS is are being put in with nostalgia since for many people in my age group shows a time pre-social media.

so everyone is constantly nostalgic to how things used to be even if how things used to be was a couple years ago. This kind of leads to I feel, though a blending of more modern systems that some people represent with a pre-social media dominance period of their life with this retro look to it.
