Honestly NRS gore is almost comedic in a way, like I don't feel like most of the time they're trying to get emotional shock value out of you, more like "eww gross" or laughing.
In Invincible it feels like they're trying to constantly shove "THIS WORLD IS FUCKED UP! BE SHOCKED!" down your throat imo
I don't usually complain about media that I don't like, but something about that show gets me, rofl.
Also the whole "every fight scene is just gore shock factor" feels soooo unnecessarily cheap and gets old in like three episodes.
idk why but nothing pisses me off more than them bouncing back and forth every scene from "oh my god people are being brutally murdered around me and I'm covered in their blood while realizing my own mortality" to "teehee I'm a quirky nerd highschooler who awkwardly wants a social life!"
I regret being a hater about this, but rewatched some of Invincible S1 for the first time last night, and that is a pretty miserable show.
Hard carried by a cool world and incredible cast, but every moment feels disconnected from every other moment, and it really is almost exactly the story of DBZ.
