Longest government shutdown in US history - 35 days (Dec ‘18 - Jan ‘19)
Second longest shutdown - 22 days+ (Oct 1st ‘25 - present day)
Both shutdowns occurred under Trump.
How Americans let this criminal lunatic keep failing upwards will vex historians for generations to come.

Mark Grant has been the soundtrack to Padres baseball my entire life. I can’t imagine watching the Padres without him, he’s as much a part of the fabric of this organization as ANYONE in its history. If this is the end, I really hope it was his decision alone.
Transcript from President Restraining Order’s speech before the UN
On Wednesday, ICE GOONS arrested a mother in the school drop-off line at Inzunza Camarina Elementary in Chula Vista, leaving her two children in the car.
God how I miss the days when politicians lost elections bc they had an affair, or got caught in a lie. Now Treason isn’t even bad enough to keep you out of the Oval Office.
The United States government is no longer able to protect us from real hazards, such as flash floods, because it’s shifting funds to fake hazards, such as a non-existent immigrant crime wave. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/05/u...
That’s the flag raising on Mt. Suribachi on Iwo Jima. It happened in February 1945. It has nothing to do with victory in Europe.
Here we go…
Proof this guy is full of SITH.
That’s for sure!
Acting like they wont equally just ignore an arcane statute as opposed to a SCOTUS order is willfully ignorant.
A statute is actually just a piece of paper, and as such cannot force anything at all to happen, let alone force powerful people to do something they dont want to do
Very cool, what happens when the administration says "nah?" Y'all don't get it. Until there's actual consequences for these people NOTHING will happen. NO laws will help us unless they're backed with force of some kind.
The Judciary has no enforcement arm, the DOD, DOJ, and Federal Marshall service works for and takes orders from The Executive. The Court can't force The Executive to do anything at all. It's time we start using the correct language.
We must expect and demand that the executive branch follow the law.
We must expect and demand that the executive branch comply with court orders.
To expect and demand anything less is a form of obeying in advance.
Defeatism is a form of surrender.

Thinking about the Supreme Court's decision to hear oral argument in the cases addressing Trump's birthright citizenship Executive Order
In the context of the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case
And Trump's chilling assertion that "homegrowns are next"
Should scare the hell out of everyone
The head of our country’s government is in the early stages of consolidating total power. We must of course reject this, but that is not enough. We have to respond by creating a different and better kind of American politics than we have seen before.
BREAKING: Juan Carlos Lopez-Gomez has been released. This is the moment he reunited with his mom.
Trump will reportedly end the IRS Direct File program that allowed taxpayers to file taxes for free.
This comes after Intuit, the maker of TurboTax, lobbied the government for years to block IRS free file.
Intuit donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration.
See how this works?
Florida: Juan Carlos Lopez-Gomez (20) is being held in the Leon County Jail, charged with illegally entering Florida as an “unauthorized alien."
Lopez-Gomez is a U.S. Citizen, born in the USA. He showed his U.S. birth certificate in court. The judge held him in jail anyway.
This is Fascism.
You saw the video of the ICE agent breaking a car window near the border, right? He wasn’t an ICE agent. He’s the founder of Veterans on Patrol, a FAR-RIGHT MILITIA patrolling the border for migrants. They’re basically deputizing militias to act as federal agents. This is dangerously out of control
NEW: I've read a lot of court documents in my time, but this is one of my new favorites. How a Judge tells a President to F**k Off. My latest: www.muellershewrote.com/p/how-a-judg...
In today’s atmosphere, it’s obvious why a book warning of totalitarian censorship would be in the American Library Association’s list of most commonly challenged books
People want institutions to stand up

“We have a system of checks and balances. A tyrant can always be stopped as long as congress has a spine.”
Congress:
WTF ?
I don't understand how some folks are unable to see that the illegal disappearing of people is a class issue. The wealthy and well-connected get due process. The rest of us don't. This is part of the oligarchy, not a distraction from it.
