Yet again I remind everyone (as Elizabeth does in her very next tweet) that "foreigners are corrupting our pure blood with weakness & disease" is Fascism 101. Not some variant, not some metaphorically similar thing, not some echo -- the thing itself.

The meta glasses have no socially justifiable purpose to exist. They only exist for Mark Zuckerberg's purposes and they can only sell outside of a novelty capacity to people who want to use them for socially hostile purposes.

Hartzog said lawmakers need to create more specific rules tailored to the unique threat posed by the combination of facial recognition and nearly undetectable surveillance technology before it becomes ubiquitous. Those laws need to target not only people using the technology, but also the companies behind it, he said.

“A lot of these conversations tend to focus on, ‘is it OK to use these glasses or this tool to surveil other people?’” he said. “What often gets lost in this conversation is, ‘is it OK for companies to design these really socially hostile tools in ways that will foreseeably lead to massive violations of privacy?’”

something about how living as a sick person means necessarily living through time outside of linearity, illness predicating stops and starts, yet being expected to (impossibly) subvert that lack of cohesion and then being faulted for not adhering to expectations of unimpeded time.

thinking always about how people often feel that my chronic illness inconveniences them yet they don’t understand or care how it inconveniences me and my life far more.

Cooking at home is NOT a normal thing. Most humans DID NOT cook at individual homes until the last 100 years or so.

They were fed from group kitchens (castle, rooming house, employer kitchen), or the equivalent of food trucks, or take-out shops, or pub food.

I feel like I'm actually losing my mind. They're just getting on TV and saying "why aren't we knocking up the 15 year olds anymore" and that's just a thing they're saying. in public. on TV.

I realize that the “I use it like therapy” thing is very common; it’s also a very dangerous lie. LLMs are very good at mimicking therapeutic conversations in form only, while giving you nothing—nothing!—of what you would get from therapy substantively.

I personally think not safe to remain in any personal relationship with anyone who is using LLMs to analyze your relationship, make conclusions about your motives, or determine how to treat you. I think this is beyond red flag—it should be an immediate dealbreaker.

Digging into this to increase understanding!

Imagine three people; a picker, a runner and a juicer. The picker plucks an orange from a tree, and hands it to the runner. The runner runs the orange to the juicer. The juicer juices the orange and provides juice to sell to customers.

The thing about saying that genAI will enable the marginalized to create art is that not only is it not true, literally just fucking look at art and music and writing,

but it is saying that a handful of rich pedophiles should be allowed to control whether marginalized people can produce art.

If I had to choose a single thought which haunts me most, it’s this. And it has animated me for years. This thing has been growing and metastasizing for almost a decade. And every passing year we’ve grown more hoarse trying to get someone to give a shit.

People need to remember, too, that these are the *successful* authors. The ones who are traditionally published trade authors. Those trying to break in, those published once and then couldn't get another contract, self-published authors and so on are not included. This is the top 1% of authors.

The statistical probability regurgitron is not a tool that will help you learn to think, write, come up with ideas, or clearly identify what YOU find interesting, useful, or worth researching more deeply. It is a ball and chain preventing you from learning how to do any of these things. Sorry!

I've seen people trying to defend it today by saying "No, no, I just use it to brainstorm, bounce ideas, I do the actual writing" and with all the kindness in the world I need to tell you: if there is a stage of writing you are not good at, you need to get good, not use the plagiarism machine.

It is almost like he’s picturing the scene from Wolf Hall where Henry VIII just stares at MPs until they change their votes.

But seriously, it highlights how important imploding the constitutional order is to him because the law gets in the way of his racial grievances. Grim.

If you are a cis person, take a look and find someone to support if you can.

Everyone give this a share after.

Right, simply entertaining this challenge as if it's remotely legitimate is already discrediting.

If there's a single vote to end birthright citizenship, we need to take this Supreme Court apart with sledgehammers and start over.
