I've been looking forward to this ever since I played its first demo years ago! I played the demo again just last night to get a head-start and it's incredible how much extra polish has been stacked on since then. Love its puzzle and exploration flow. Absolutely check this one out!!

πΈSPRITE COMMISSIONS!πΈ
- $80 for a Petal Crash style idle loop sprite!
- Same price for a top-down map style sprite (see next post)
- Maybe an extra charge for complicated animations (like a really swishy tail) or complex character designs
Taking 5 slots this time!
game over screen from Unearth. top text says "Stamina Exhausted...", lower options say "Retry from Checkpoint" and "Head back to Hub." The player character, Geena, sits in the center of the screen. she's grumpy
lol the player can now game over during the second half of unearth's tutorial and this has the amusing knock-on effect of making it so that you stand a *very* real chance of eating dirt on max difficulty if you do not know what you're doing
dungeon gals releases in one day and two hours
DAWN OF THE FINAL DAY
I did!!! Got to do some very fun things today and relax plenty.
i think we've been using "addictive" as a term of praise for video games for way too long
i have not entirely positive feelings about the fact a lot of popular indie games lately are games with about 4-6 hours worth of actual content but spread across 40-60 hours of roguelike slot machine pulling.
i get why this happens I just wish "being the biggest time sink" was not so rewarding lol
Yeah, the perspective is the big killer here - it's impossible to tell what is and is not a wall.
in this moment i have decided that i will never play landstalker
a diagram showing which route you can (and cannot) take to advance in a platforming section in alundra
it took me an ungodly number of tries to guess which route gave birth to progress, here. i did this just two days ago and it still took me several tries to remember which part of the wall i could go through????
IN ALUNDRA YOU HAVE TO DO A WHOLE BUNCH OF FUCKASS PLATFORMING WITH A PERSPECTIVE THAT SEEMS PURPOSE-FIT TO FUCK WITH YOU. I BELIEVE THAT THIS DOES NOT ALIGN WITH THE CORE FANTASY OF ALUNDRA AND IN THIS ESSAY,
Happy birthday Alix!! Wishing you a good day with good company and good food.
THREE DAYS LEFT
I REPEAT DG COMES OUT IN THREE DAYS
this is what my brain does every single time i play a video game
in star fox 64, it is sometimes strategically advantageous to intentionally let your teammates get KO'd a couple levels before a particularly difficult challenge. i believe that this does not align with the core fantasy of star fox and in this essay,
This is your reminder to play weird little indie games and support the devs

game screenshot. it's a perfect recreation of the overworld from dragon quest 1. perfect.
this week's rpg sketch is "1-minute Dragon Warrior 1"
- explores the traditional rpg concept of "dragon warrior 1"
- made in one day
- you can play it in your browser
- it is possible to beat

It amuses me how this is both a very silly pastiche and also an enjoyable routing exercise. There's a lot of route-optimizing that goes into this one that's enjoyable to puzzle out. Biggest issue is that the amount of mashing makes it an accessibility nightmare lmao
that was very stupid and good
Eithea's so good. Really enjoy when the voiceover clips for the fiftieth time for some reason. I do genuinely think *some* of its emotional moments hit, and the character designs and performances are fun, but the entire production is so scuffed and yeah, the battles are very weak lol
oh this is *awful*
played demon tides and had a great time but i've also just realized that i've not played any indie games with sub-100 reviews this year. gotta get on that, my hipster cred must be maintained
the vibes of this dungeon are off the charts tho
it's funny in a way but it's also significantly less funny after the 15th attempt
not content with the designation of "maybe having one of the most annoying puzzle mechanics I've ever seen in my life," alundra moves mountains to provide us with "definitely one of the most annoying puzzle mechanics i've ever seen in my life." it's not even a cool mechanic? come on man
Psst, hey kid, wanna see some good news?
I don't think it'd hurt to tell the player what a chest contains. To maintain some mystery, I'd probably opt for laying out areas that only the full party can enter - a scout could maybe get a rough idea of the lay of the place from outside it, but the specifics (enemies, treasure) would be unclear
