Evidence from an Indonesian island points to the successful elimination of lymphatic filariasis. Watch @washumedicine.bsky.social Dr. Peter U. Fischer, PhD, and Senior Scientist Kerstin Fischer as they discover their work's long-term impact: source.washu.edu/2026/03/a-we...
I often use antifungals for the surrounding infiltrates, and it's important. But the ball itself needs surgery.
Surgery. He needs it excised.
I do. Species ID and susceptibility.
Hello #IDWeek2025! Warm up for #IDBugBowl with this little question... Hope you do better than me! #IDSky @fungaldoc.bsky.social
I would guess this is not a failure. Just natural progression.
Likely to be related to source control and it is also a reasonable timeline.
Is it culture positive 5 months later? Or what makes it refractory?
In general, I never found mixed antifungals to be helpful.
This was my experience too. There is a paper out there, where I analyzed the data, wrote the methods, and much of the results, setting the tone for what the story of the paper will be. I then went to another institution, and the paper was published without my knowledge, and without my name.
This is such an interesting study. Many times in medicine we feel that something should be a risk factor for death. But it turns out not to be. And often, even when that data is clearly presented, people still continue to not believe it. Negative studies teach us often more than a positive study.
We do. I can't speak for every center.

π¨πIn a cohort of patients with Candida BSI, LVAD presence was not associated with increased 30-day or 90-day mortality.Despite higher acuity, LVAD support did not independently worsen short-term outcomes in Candida BSI. @fungaldoc.bsky.social academic.oup.com/ofid/advance... @ofidjournal.bsky.social

I wanted to share the preface from our upcoming second edition of our book, The Comprehensive Review of Infectious Disease.
This has been in my head for years. Glad to finally see it in the printed word.
Cannot agree more with @germhuntermd.bsky.social @fungaldoc.bsky.social @natebahrid.bsky.social
