Guys, you don't need to put external CO2 into beer.

Hello - yes there is.

Using the custom data tool you can specify particular areas of interest (contiguous or otherwise) within a given category (eg so all would have to be LTLAs, or MSOAs, or whatever)

Occured that you could probably visit Wales' nine universities in a single working day. It'd be a slog, but it would be 7h25 according to bing maps.

The graduate premium in a world of human capital It turns out there are other bits of government beyond DfE with an interest in graduate earnings. David Kernohan unexpectedly finds hope in neoclassical economic theory

But (inevitably) there is another angle: wonkhe.com/blogs/the-gr...

A very considered and in depth write up of our @taso.org.uk reports published and launched at our conference today. We need better support for those most at risk of poor wellbeing, students who as the write up concludes are being effectively reached

NEW on Wonkhe: Jim Dickinson compares OfS approach to students against other UK regulators – and finds a regulator that lacks the mechanisms, the rigour, and the will to act on what students are telling it buff.ly/4aIFBlX

This is very good by @dkernohan.bsky.social. There has always been something obscure about the OfS approach to enforcement and now access to funding streams (eg LLE gateway or future fee increases) hang on it we definitely need greater transparency. A day 1 issue for a new Chief Exec IMO.

But if the government had stuck firm to what we might call the technocratic approach to work visas, then there would remain a clear opportunity to marshall evidence in favour of international recruitment (while at the same time thinking seriously about the role of the higher education system in training the UK’s scientific, social, technical and cultural workforce, which isn’t a bad side-effect). Instead, Labour has continued to gesture at this via increases to the cost of the visa system and employing overseas staff, while in other areas – particularly, but not only, in the routes to settlement consultation – it has given in to populist tendencies that have little to do with what’s best for the UK either as an economy or a society, and everything to do with its political anxieties and factional power struggles.
