Hey look! I’m gonna be in this fantastic collection.

I find it moving that David Lynch loved IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE so much he couldn't talk about it without crying. His sincere belief in the redemptive possibilities contained in that film and what it said about people seems to me like a key element of understanding his own work.

I have to admit, I’m not even sure what it means, which might be why your mind is bulking. Is the subject more clear in the previous sentence? “It’s,” “that kind,” and “the kind” make the sentence slippery in my head, but maybe I’m just missing the context.

I’ve been collecting mass markets for years. They’re the superior format, in my opinion, and I’ll miss them dearly.

I love the fact that we may never collectively agree on what the greatest Christmas movie is, but we all seem to know and celebrate one of the greatest performances in a Christmas movie ever every December, and that's just really wonderful.

So thrilled to be part of this project! Already counting down the days until I can read everyone’s work.

Reading “Exquisite Corpse” by Poppy Z. Brite for the first time. I’ve just started and it’s already so good and disturbing.

His writing really is the finest of prose.

This is made even better by my phone-induced typo in the post. Brill.

Setting aside the cheeky spelling of “corner,” I love that this sign’s lack of punctuation suggest the existence of multiple Kringles. #editing

Matt is most frightened of his artistic talents and what they might inspire in others . . .

I love being a writer. I just spent 10 minutes researching constipation in 1980s bodybuilders. Followed by researching into the most popular fad diets of the late '80s and early '90s and which ones were most likely to lead to constipation.

It's such a universal experience, it's staggering. Makes me want to rewatch "The Witch," which is an incredibly good metaphor for this sadly common phenomena.

Just spent all my writing time tonight fleshing out my outline for the next chapter. Sometimes pre-writing like this (and this is on top of a 15-page outline) feels like a waste, but I've found if I don't do it, I'm far more likely to steer myself into an iceberg even when I know the scene beats.

Nice! I don’t think I’ll lose momentum, but I suppose I can refocus on the novel if I feel it getting away from me. Might way until after CH 13, which will be halfway through!

Maybe I'm just seeing what I want to see, but he kinda looks a little like Robert Brian Wilson, the original Billy, in this shot.

What an incredible angle for this piece. Nicole, I hope you read this and heed this advice fr.

Hey fellow writers, how often do you all take a break from your main work in progress? And if you do, what do you do in the meantime? I'm 10 chapters into this book and was considering taking a week or so break to do a quick short story. In your opinion, good idea or bad idea?

I bought an octopus skeleton this fall because it was so nonsensical. Been thinking of starting a collection of the most bonkers skeleton creations. The one you found would be a great addition.

Excited to see what comes of this. Season 1 constructed a really giant pair of shoes for Season 2 to fill.

Hi! I’m still searching for my folks on here too. Of course, I stop using it for months on end, which doesn’t help.

It would honestly be more frightening than an animated skeleton.

Excited to be a part of it!

The other sexiest thing a movie can do is be 90 minutes long. 🥵

It's all about clarity in my book, and that extra comma really helps!

Here is the perfect example of why serial commas are superior. Even when working in AP style, I try to encourage folks to make an exception to include it. #writing

Reading Clive Barker’s “Coldheart Canyon” for the first time right now and it’s hitting all the right beats for me. The way Barker eases readers into the supernatural is so masterful. One minute the world is as it should be, but just twenty pages later, you’re ready to accept the extraordinary.
