I guess that's to get non-coders excited that they can make stuff.

Surprised they're not talking more about codex, but maybe they're holding back for DevDay.

“I think in the future, if you don’t have headphones with integrated CD player, remote control, battery, disc storage and jewel box compartment — I think you’re … probably [going to] be at a pretty significant cognitive disadvantage compared to other people,” Zuckerberg added.

AI-generated writing definitely lacks something, but AI can be a useful tool for research, fact-checking, spotting logical gaps, identifying biases, and offering alternative perspectives.

Human writing/editing is the way to avoid AI sloppification.

DeepMind UK staff seek to unionise and challenge defence deals and Israel links Move by employees at Google’s AI arm follows discontent after weapons and surveillance pledge is dropped

👏👏👏 to those who are unionising at DeepMind, an amazing effort, but *also* if you work at a Big Tech company, you should
probably assume there *is* a military connection until it has been explicitly proven otherwise on.ft.com/42LTDWp

Would be interesting to re-run the experiment with the full content of articles to see if the descriptions are improved by having the overall context.

Putting aside that it's not actually a saving, it's not even very much if you divide it by the number of households.

Over a year it would save households $15/week.

Of course households will never actually see that money, and even if they did, it would be eaten up by the price rises anyway.

Pretty incredible how Bluesky does two things no other major social network does:

1. Show content from people you follow

2. Don’t deprioritize posts with links

The “incredible” part is how ads-driven social networks & ones optimizing for “engagement” stopped doing either.

Then once you have that data across all releases you can map out trends, growth rates, top usage, etc.

If you want to get more granular, you can get into prop usage and understand the most common ways components are used.

This is in addition to talking to users of course 🙂

Here's an example:
I have a node script that checks out each release of a product using simple-git, runs analysis of each release by reading all files that could contain components.

Pattern matches against a list of known components, and outputs a json file of the usage stats for that release.

A great skill to have if you're working on design systems is rolling your own scripts to pull out usage stats from a codebase.

If you have access to old releases, you can also pull out adoption stats retrospectively.

The year is 2024, and I am *still* trying to convince people that in order for a design system to actually work, you need to dedicate resources to it.

Moved over here a week ago and the vibe is so much better.

Almost forgot what the absence of bait and grift feels like, it's refreshing.

Already seen loads of great content from people I haven't seen for a while 💯

Maybe FortuneCity? It was another virtual community like GeoCities with districts, streets, etc.

I would copy bits of other sites I liked, download the best animated gifs.

Then later I was building band sites, forums, MySpace stuff.

Didn't occur to me that it could be a career until years later
