This is a wonderful interview with Celia Roberts www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1... who has pioneered the study of hormones as messengers of meaning. Also (selfishly), a fairly major academic moment for me as an ECR when someone whose work you love finds your own “inspiring”.
It's true! After a few years of work and waiting, this little book is here--suitable for use in intro anth and sociology classes, and a remedy for evidence-free policy proposals (I've been telling people it's like reading the @nytimes.com editorial page, but with actual evidence!).
In research and teaching on the social lives of hormones over the last five years it has always struck me how little attention is given (by public and researchers) to oral contraceptives and their interactions with other drugs. Now we are seeing the consequences: www.theguardian.com/society/2025...
