Employers trust them in their homes. But can immigrant nannies and cleaners trust their employers? Domestic workers — many of them lacking permanent legal status — live in fear of their employers, who they say are now more likely to use their immigration status to exploit them.

Unions make slight gains in South, mirroring national trends The share of Southern workers in unions slightly increased in 2025, mirroring a small uptick in unionization nationally, according to government data released in February.

Under some of the hardest conditions in the country, Southern workers are still organizing and still making gains. Union membership ticked up this past year because working people are not backing down.
This makes one thing very clear: workers are not giving up, workers are gearing up.

Every billionaire tax break is money ripped from schools, hospitals and our future.
