Star Trek The Original Series scene. We're in a CORRIDOR! A room door is open, and we see two crewmen spilling out into the hallway in red and blue uniforms. They are otherwise indecipherable tho because they are entirely enveloped in a big cloud of smoke. It's pouring out all around them and into the hallway area, like there's a Phish concert in there. Closed caption reads, "[COUGHING]"

Imagine when you were a kid in the 90's (which I know you were), everyone talking about the anniversary of the Gilligan's Island episode "V for Vitamins"
At least it was for a good one
John Kerry won the region in 2004. They sent Ron Kind to Congress for decades (along with Dave Obey in northern Wisconsin)
The other issue is that the memeification of current events via social media pulled a lot of people into the discourse and the political process who weren’t there before and society is still grappling with it.
A colleague found some 80s/90s vintage Tribune sports sections.
Look at an old Chicago Tribune and you will be blown away by how much advertising was sold. Front section had full page ads for every department store. Entertainment had Daily ads for listings at General Cinema/Cineplex Odeon theaters. Local TV guide had a zillion network ads. And on and on
Late 70s 77 WABC had Frank Perdue selling chickens twice an hour. That type of ad is a lost art. youtu.be/uN37i9qr0zY?...

The White Sox are still bad. But the former Miller Ballpark is still good and I look forward to returning when the Brewers decide to whale on someone else’s favorite team.

White Sox recap 1/162
Here’s the reason why I can’t pop the champagne corks and write poems for Opening Day. The White Sox are still paying penance for decades of institutional rot. There are no indications it has been fixed in any meaningful way. There’s a real chance the Sox hit the home opener 0-6. Be ready.
“Star Trek” really needs to be an old school 24 episode season series. The series succeeds or fails on whether the crew is a good hang and you need that extra time to develop characters.
And with that, Molly Hagen and Mike Genovese are the only remaining cast members from the 1985 Chicago classic CODE OF SILENCE

Downey SNL is a given but don’t sleep on his 18 months as head writer on Late Night in 1983-84. A lot of Golden Age Simpsons runs through that Letterman writers room.
