One thing we are sleeping on in the UK is stuff like buckwheat tea and genmai cha. We love tea, we love stodge.

Look, now that we're trying for real consequences for the Epstein files, maybe we should also take another look at the Panama Papers
I truly cannot this week
AS IF THEY WERE GOING AROUND STRAIGHT UP JUST WEARING THE PEADOPHILE MERCH
My read has been that it's driven more by social isolation than tech literacy. Young people are forced into more diverse groups, school etc. which can offset some of the nonsense online. Older members of my family often barely leave the house all week, so 'London is a no go zone' more believable
My hand holding a shortbread cookie in the shape of an airplane. There are red sprinkles in the pattern of the survivorship bias plane.
A plate of the same cookies.
Does anyone want a survivorship bias shortbread
Graphic shows % of universities undertaking various cost cutting measures, comparing spring 2024 with spring 2025. Course closures, cutting optional modules, compulsory redundancies, and department closures have all surged
I’m old enough to remember when everybody agreed that higher education was a “market” and offering “choice” was how the universities were meant to grow

As if it needs to be said - all this is having a massive negative impact on the quality of learning for the majority of uni students nationwide. It's really bad for the country. We're failing our young people. But anti uni sentiment is so rife it's not taken seriously
single file queuing in a pub is an abomination
It's crucial to understand that what's bad about income inequality is not just that it enables elites to consume more; it enables them to *control production*. They decide how to use *our* labour and *our* resources, and shape *our* future. It is a dictatorship of the rich.
Point taken, that is a little misleading, I do work in HE so I'm quite familiar, but I don't really think it makes that much of a difference to the main points being made?
ok, how is it inaccurate? not really that helpful just to be like 'wrong, actually'. Clearly bullshit that it's unemotive but the numbers are there.
thanks Ed. great stuff as ever!

Notable how Marr chooses to misquote with 'kill the IDF'
Its worth noting that in Britain, Mamdani would have thrown out of the Labour Party by a small room full LinkIn weirdos and then replaced by a former private healthcare lobbyist who would go on to lose by 5,000 votes to a Reform candidate who was a convinced sex offender.
And if my grandmother had wheels she would be a bike
My favorite protest chant is probably when the mounted police show up and you get to shout "get those animals off those horses" at the cops. That's just solid joke structure
The current CPI is 2.6% so this is a pay cut. In 2021 UCU showed a 20% real terms pay cut since 2009. We must be well over 25% by now.
"We urgently need to both reduce our home energy use and move to clean energy for heating & powering our homes"
Sheffield's new Energy Hub will provide advice & support for householders wanting to transition to clean energy sources, writes Gavin Martin ✍️
My toxic trait is that I give a fuck
Sorry, but this is just a fully radicalised perspective, and anyone espousing it should be going through Prevent not advising it.

as an academic I'm recent years I have discovered a new low - the feeling you get when it takes longer to read something than the student took to produce it
Labour proving beyond any doubt that they are a massive danger today. No reasonable person should be supporting them.
