Using these spells will therefore be less straightforward!
Some strats (Endless Magic + Proximity Firaga) will now have downsides (high revenge + pushing targets away with finishers) but less obvious strategies (e.g. Artillery Fire) could do potent damage for low MP costs with the right abilities.
Posts by KH3 Light vs. Darkness [PC mod]
Composite screen shot of all four main magic styles in "Kingdom Hearts", with a short description of how they function with the "Light vs. Darkness" mod. Clockwise from top-left: Basic Magic ("each spell has its own impact"), Dual Magic ("multiplied shots, but far weaker damage and stagger"), Proximity Magic ("push foes away with powerful AOE damage… wih higher revenge values"), and Artillery Magic ("destroy your enemies' Armor with explosive shots"). Each of them is accompanied by a screenshot of Sora using Water with each style in a different situation: no formchange (basic magic), Twin Yo-Yos (dual magic), Oathkeeper's Light Form (artillery) and Hyper Hammer (proximity).
It's well-known that KH3 has multiple magic styles, some paired with formchanges.
In our mod's next update, we'll rebalance mostly the OP ones: Dual Magic will do much less damage & rarely make enemy react, while Proximity (AOE) spells will push foes away from their hitbox + incur a lot of revenge!
#FunFact: Sora's offensive spells in KH3 have many forms: 4 tiers (base/ra/ga/za), regular/finisher/grand magic casts for some tiers, formchange variants of these (regular/Artillery/Double/Proximity), "Sea" versions, projectile offshoots…
Each has its own stats, with almost 200 entries in total!
We're working atm on rebalancing all KH3 spells!
Some key points: making Cure use less MP but give less HP (now more tied to Magic stats), increasing costs for über powerful spells (like Thundaga)…
…and recalculating stats for all spells, all characters, all forms, and all spell variants 😩
Thank you, and Happy March Caprice,
The March Caprice Team

A monochrome drawing with three distinct parts. Above, the skyline of Scala ad Caelum bejeweled with stars, it's spires and clocktower bathed in moonlight. Below, the clocktower of Daybreak Town silhouetted in the dark, its stars distorted save for a single shooting star. On the boundary between these worlds, the Player Character stands, little more than a paper cut-out; Chirithy can be seen in their reflection, in the silhouette of the Foreteller's tower. Overlaying these two parts are Ephemer and Skuld, framed by the windows of their arks. Ephemer has his hands clasped together in front of him while Skuld holds a single balled fist to her chest. They are both crying, disheveled from the fight that preceded this scene.

(And yes, KH3 has an "anti-status and damage boost" ability, if you didn't know 😂)
Raw text from Notepad++, listing abilities in "Kingdom Hearts 3" whose in-game descriptions will be revised with the "Light vs. Darkness" mod to provide more accurate info about their actual effect.
Here is the list of abilities whose descriptions will be improved in our mod (for now) with more preciseinfo:
Kudos to @khwiki.com for documenting the effect of many KH3 abilities, which helped us a lot for this. (We also did our part by adding to the Wiki our own findings, ofc!)

Visual comparison of in-game descriptions in "Kingdom Hearts III" for 3 abilities (top to bottom): Hidden Potential, Pep Talk, and Walk the Dog. Left column: umodded descriptions. Right column: New descriptions provided by the "Light vs. Darkness" mod, now giving accurate and complete information on the 3 abilities used as examples.
After some hard work ahead of the next @marchcaprice.com event, back to regular posting!
Our mod will, in its 2.0 update, give abilities some new, accurate descriptions, with factual information to make more informed choices.
No more vague descriptions that lie by omission!

Thanks 😊 We're trying to do our best!
- Using BBS anims that we had adapted around 2022, or anims from other KH3 characters
As it took ~3 years to finish him, the workload of one NPC was spread over time. Expanding the 7 that don't fully work out of combat (Riku, Ven, Lea, Kairi, Roxas, Xion, Sora) would multiply that workload a lot 😂
We're:
- Rebuilding an existing NPC Terra (left unfinished by Square-Enix) that had almost everything for combat
- Not expanding him beyond combat, as he only shows up during fights with our mod
- Re-using animations he has from the "Battle of Guardians" fight in Re Mind and from cutscenes

Cropped screenshot of KH Wiki page for "Flood", highlighting its journal entry from "Kingdom Hearts III": "The Unversed equivalent of a Shadow. Agile, but otherwise unimpressive."
Funny thing, I think Jiminy even alludes to this in the Flood's Gummiphone entry 😂 It seems he didn't even want to write a proper description for them, just passively-aggressively redirecting to the Shadow's.
[3/3]
AFAIK, when it released, "Birth by Sleep" was also criticized because its Unversed enemies were clones of some Heartless (gameplay-wise). It's probably why "Dream Drop Distance" didn't have matching Dream-Eater enemies, and why the Bruisers, Scrappers, etc. weren't in KH3 (to avoid clones).
[2/3]
That would probably be tough, the "Birth by Sleep" 3D models would still need to be upgraded to match KH3, and adapted to match animations from existing Heartless.
The KH13 Heartless animations don't match either the BBS Unversed animations either, so that's a lot more porting to do :-/
[1/3]
Many in-games maps would also need to be rebuild to add "navigational meshes" they need, aka hidden orienteering meshes that NPC (allies and enemies) use to know where they can or cannot go. This would probably bloat the mod by several gigas, more than what NexusMods allows us to host :-/ [2/2]
I think that would also be a lot of work 😢They don't have NPC logic set up for navigating maps, and we'd need to create or adapt new animations for that as well (jumping, climbing ledges like Sora, sliding rails or slopes, drawing in and out their weapon, etc.)
[1/2]
I'm afraid that's a very tall order 😭
That would require reworking 3D models, textures (to match KH3's), animations (including new ones in KH3 like when hitting walls), making new NPC logic, VFX, SFX, etc.
And at the end of the day, they might be defeated too easily to make it worth the work :-/
