Ist das nicht schlicht vernuenftig, beiderseits?

True, a nuclear use doesnt mean a global thermonuclear war as it was in the 1980's. It's a nuclear war though, even if it's "just" Pakistan and India going at each other, or a nuclear Saudi Arabia vs nuclear Iran. It means obliteration by the millions. Consequence of general proliferation.

The problem is that general proliferation of nuclear weapons means at one point they WILL be used, and everything will turn to ashes. In the long run, it is safer for everyone to find political solutions to the world's conflicts.
At the moment, the world is given to domination phantasies.

Everything old is new again. Soon, France will guarantee Poland's western border :) (Not the eastern one. Poland might want to recreate the commonwealth!)

count yourself lucky that you have them still! They are so sweet. But the american Grey is coming from the West, replacing them.

except if you are Germany, where the government is mentally stuck in 1970 and reacts to the fossil fuels crisis by incentivizing fossil fuels.

"that are unacceptable to most Russians" - are they being asked? They were not asked if Russia should go to war against Ukraine, that was Putins own fancy. Propaganda told the people they had to take it and they did. How would a successor be more constrained?

i find breaking off diplo relations inappropriate. One doesnt break off diplomatic relations even with enemies, except when things are close to outright war, which i do not think relations between Israel and Spain are.

Why can China not be annexed as a set of provinces to Taiwan, if they are the same country after all?

and its nonsense, and somewhat dangerous. In essence it is a claim of control what others think instead letting them think for themselves. More and more social authoritarianism.

US willkommen weil Uebersee, D nicht.

well ideological expansionism you can also find in the West! I think its more the trait of ideologies as such. Even now you see the Trumpists re-exporting their ideological fascism brand to Europe. World revolution was a theme of communists way before the Soviet Union even existed.

The old Greeks did the same ! Its just a different (maybe more familiar) style, no?
The British at their heyday also did landscaping as art but it was only by and for the rich and it didnt play with nature but rather straightjacketed it.

Hi. Just a question. There is a hidden dependency in it, I believe. Like, when the ice is only thin, then it cant "thin" more than its total thickness. So absolute numbers may hide the relative severity. So would it not be relevant to express the loss as fraction of the prior local thickness?

Even today i dont get what they have against freedom of movement. They used it a lot in pensioners moving to Spain/F/Italy. So how do they have a problem with ppl from there moving to UK? they get boat people from Africa all the time anyhow so how do they think its worse to get ppl from PL or FI?

is it not necessary now to accept reality, that european cooperation in defense is not going to happen? It's bad, yes, but the relevant political actors have been set, and they are not going to change. PL refusal, D/FR split. Wouldnt it be better now to focus on those relationships that do work?

Thank you! Tons of Q's.

i suspect this is imprecise reporting? The US and its treasury is in no position to "allow" or disallow trades between two third parties in foreign countries. I suspect whats at stake is the usual "If u buy russian oil, you are excluded from trade with America" extortion.

we do not have to live in such a sad world. That wasnt so in 1926 and it isnt so in 2026. We can build a better world, return to sanity, decency and solidarity. We are not doomed to suffer the rule of Trumps or Putins forever.
