Bill Bishop flagged it. I checked the data. He was right.
人民领袖 ("People's Leader") is trending back into Chinese state media — a Mao-era honorific that's been off-limits since 1978.

"Forskere må delta i samfunnsdebatten, men mange kvier seg. En høfligere tone i ordskiftet kan være nøkkelen til at flere tør å bruke stemmen sin, særlig i møte med digital hets og økende polarisering.
Dette er ikke en individuell kamp, men en strukturell utfordring."

I obtained an internal Party document from Inner Mongolia University, stamped "strictly prohibited from external distribution," that details 19 directives for eliminating the Mongolian language. The original Chinese PDF is also available for download.

"A sweeping new national law signals Beijing’s decisive turn away from ethnic autonomy & toward enforced assimilation.
This new law is the culmination of a policy trajectory that has been building for over a decade, dating back to the 2014 Central Ethnic Work Conference"

"Mongolian is a backward language, it can only describe nomadic culture like cows, sheep, or grassland." - my re-education teacher in 2020
Apparently, there is a really "wild" exhibition being held in Moscow.
As Russian imperialism would, it is in conjunction with the "Year of National Unity" & contains many objects, some displayed for 1st time, from peak Mongol - Rus interaction.

It makes sense, coz you two would be "talking" to each toher 24/7 on my feed at the time 😆. (Ps. Id be honored to be mixed up with Batzorig lol)
Lol I remembered. It was arash azizi 😅 not you.
Perhaps. Indeed quite possible that it was another agha.
I remember you saying what you reiterated, but also separately, I remember you noticing how what used to be on the Wednesday itself slowly moved to the "eve" of it during last decade or so. Since it was all on the other platform, I don't have a record of it though, and can't back up my words. 😁
Though there were signs of it, the big moment of realization came in 2021, when Mongolia effectively orchestrated its presidential elections "in return" for China's vaccines & a promise to join the "community of common prosperity".
My op-ed on it at the time:

The turning point is obv last year's protests.I had my 2 cents on it:
"Munkhnaran Bayarlkhagva, a political analyst and former adviser on Mongolia's National Security Council, said protesters had effectively forced a vote on "the legitimacy of the political system"
www.france24.com/en/live-news...?
I was eagerly waiting for this year's V-Dem Institute's report and democracy indices update.
As expected, Mongolia has finally turned the corner of democratic backsliding.
Having Russia & China as neighbors is never easy & Covid also had its impact.

agha, apoligize for tangential line, but weren't you categorically against shifting it to tuesday?
"representative from Inner Mongolia, in a glorious blue silk robe, whether she had seen any policies that would be specifically helpful for Mongolians. “I haven’t,” she said “but forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation is the guiding thread & that’s good for all minorities.”
These days all major outlets are covering the new law on "ethnic unity" and how it will erase China's minorities & even prosecute parents who "instill" detrimental views in their children.
It is a sad development, the outcomes of which are long prescribed.

"By restricting minority language education for most subjects, the new law ensures that "Uyghurs, Tibetans & Mongolians will no longer be entitled to use their native languages for subjects in schools and universities. Instead, they will be forced to use Mandarin Chinese"
www.bbc.com/news/article...
Then @sophiedrich.bsky.social writes in @thediplomat.com about the changes to law in China around languages that continue the process of erasing minority languages such as Tibetan, Mongolian & Uyghur
(The tags #MilkTeaAlliance #savemongolianlanguage appeared together a few times over the years)

"Under the new Law on Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress, while minority languages may still be taught as a second language, groups such as Tibetans, Uyghurs and Mongolians will no longer be entitled to use their native tongues for core subjects in schools and universities."
If the Iraq war gave CCP a chance to ride the bandwagon w/ Bush & Co & crush Uighur dissent under the "terrorism" pre-text, the new regional war in Middle East is apparently giving Beijing another opportunity to finish the cultural genocide of minorities including Mongols.

Russian imperialism - the metropolitan racist elite that sucks out all the resources from the periphery & then makes the colonized poor fight its fascist wars.
If you serve as the Tsar's private "oprichnina" like Chechnya does today, there is a temporary respite. But that is all to it.

We'll start, with the 'true frame' saddle: the sturdy frame made mounted combat easier, making this invention instrumental to the rise of Mongolian steppe cultures.
