I think the status of politicians would be inflated by any change. My experiences differ regards the view of the royal family from overseas!

Hmmm. I'm far from a royalist but until we sort the quality of politians out I think we are better off as we are.... on the global stage the royal family give us some kudos as opposed to a Boris or Stamer bumbling along trying to press the flesh of anyone passing by!

To be replaced by elected head of state? Look at the state of what gets elected currently.... imagine the growth of their egos if the title of head of state was bestowed upon them.... then the favours and corruption would be upped 200%! Better the devil you know imo!
