Why private medical tests?

Instead of actual doctors, Danielle Smith listens to naturopathic quacks who prey on desperate people with their pseudoscience.

She's using their advice to drive Alberta's health policies toward United States style private medicine.

Past Premier Smith explains how current Premier Smith is using AHS as a scapegoat from "the fallout of mistakes" and admits the truth that she had fired the board and was in direct control of AHS during the contracting.

And if AHS didn't comply she would "chop off a few heads".

Premier Smith in 2024:
"It's a violation of the Canada Health Act, it is something I ran on, I said we would not do it, we are not going to do that"

Premier Smith in 2025:
Here's Bill 11 doing that.

Hello,

You are receiving this message because you are currently on the publicly funded cataract surgery waitlist at Mitchell Eye Centre.

We are writing to share an informational update regarding a recent change to Alberta’s health care rules that may provide an additional option for some patients awaiting cataract surgery.

For more information, you can review the Government of Alberta’s overview here:
As a result of this change, some patients may now choose to pay privately for cataract surgery rather than remaining on the public waitlist. This option is entirely voluntary. Your place on the publicly funded waitlist does not change unless you choose to pursue private surgery.

This information is being shared so that patients are aware of all available options.

If you would like information about privately funded cataract surgery, please contact our surgical coordinator directly:

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Once contacted, our team will follow up to provide information and answer any questions you may have.

If you prefer to remain on the publicly funded waitlist, no action is required at this time.

Thank you for your patience while awaiting care, and for trusting Mitchell Eye Centre with your eye care.

Sincerely,
Mitchell Eye Centre

Two-tier health care, in violation of the Canada Health Act, is now a reality in Alberta.

You can pay your surgeon to jump the public wait list and get your surgery ahead of everyone else.

Instead of fixing public health care, Danielle Smith is destroying it.

Bruce McAllister's rant is quite the contrast to the message Danielle Smith was spreading with Bruce when she was trying to get elected in 2022.

"Alberta is a place where we invite people from around the world, doesn't matter your background, your religion…"

Danielle Smith from 2022 would agree with @jeromyyyc.bsky.social that Calgary isn't getting a fair deal.

"If we're going to rail against equalization at the federal level, then we can't keep doing the same thing to our municipalities..."

She was saying many things back then to get elected.

In 2024, Premier Smith was demanding Trudeau allow 20,000+ additional immigrants to Alberta.

But now with a huge budget deficit, she's scapegoating the immigrants she wanted to come to Alberta.

Premier Smith's Chief of Staff, Rob Anderson, would be OUTRAGED teachers were stripped of their freedom of expression... if he wasn't a huge hypocrite.

"How dare we think we can do that? What kind of society do we think we live in?"

By using s33 pre-emptively, the UCP is not simply admitting that their laws are breaching Charter rights. (Governments have done that before.)

By foregoing judicial review, they are further admitting that their laws cannot be justified in a democratic society.

Here's Rob Anderson, Premier Smith's Chief of Staff, in 2013 (before the 2015 Supreme Court decision):

"That to me impinges upon their freedom of assembly, I would think, and their right to organize & so forth, which is a protected right under our Charter of Rights and Freedoms"

Danielle Smith once claimed her "mission in public life" was to defend the fundamental rights and freedoms, and that they "cannot be taken away from us by government".

But now she's the one who has taken away fundamental rights and freedoms from Albertans.
