The Bishops Conference of Scotland back SCIAF's call to restore life-saving aid NOW!

UK aid cuts are projected to hurt 55 million people globally, depriving them of access to basic services, like clean and safe water. It is a short-sighted decision that must be reversed.

"Cutting aid will not defend the UK’s interests but rather will make the world a less safe place."

"The UK must restore the aid budget, and use its G20 Presidency to find solutions that bridge the gap between the huge need for aid and available resources - such as reforming the system that bleeds Africa dry in unfair debt repayments.

"These cuts risk undoing progress in the global effort to tackle extreme poverty. It will be the lowest amount of spending for overseas aid since records began in 1970.

Lorraine Currie, SCIAF CEO said "SCIAF is deeply disappointed to see that the UK Government is proceeding with devastating aid cuts over the next 2 years that will hit Africa hard with a 56% cut. These are the steepest aid cuts by any country in the G7. Make no mistake, these cuts will cost lives.

John (pictured holding a WEE BOX) from St Serf’s is a huge supporter of SCIAF, when asked why he supports he said:

β€˜I suppose with the scale of need in different parts of the world, the kind of work that SCIAF is doing should be one of our priorities.’
