I had absolutely no idea that they were making a second season of Trapped in a Dating Sim.

(I also think the show is actually genuinely good, but that's another conversation altogether than I'm not going to worry about for another year)
I dearly hope the recent SRWY DLC news results in a bunch of folks actually going back and watching Xenoglossia, because boy does that show go some places and I'd get some personal amusement out of the reactions.
Well damn, does this mean I have to play SRWY now?

Comic. I’m at my desk, leaning over to the doorway, saying “Hey! Foghorn! Foghorn Leghorn! Get in here!” Foghorn Leghorn is walking past the doorway, “Boy, I tell ya, I tell ya, not so loud, boy. What, I say, I say, what d’ya want?” Next panel, I’m gesturing to my computer. “How do I find that really good manga you recommended? It’s an anime now? I keep getting Halloween costumes.” Foghorn leans over my chair, “well, boy, I say, I say, you ain’t typin the entire title.” Last panel, I turn around- “you said ‘witch hat.’ Foghorn gets in my face- “open your ears, boy!! ‘Witch Hat Atelier, I tell ya! I tell ya ‘Atelier,’ I tell ya’”
How I’ve Been Pronouncing It (Feat. Foghorn Leghorn, my… roommate?)
Starting to think maybe the anime staffs heavy lifting on Yuusha-kei maybe wasn't just on the animation production side.
(I also feel like it's pretty telling that a lot of the really big recent Fortnite events, or at least the ones big enough for me to hear about them, are things like "hang out with Darth Vader" or "surprisingly accurate recreation of Springfield" that probably attract more 40-somethings than 10yos)
I think games also have the somewhat unfortunate side-effect that even if you do have the fundamentals down, inevitably people are going to get bored or taper off over time, and the nature of live service games don't really permit the same type of ground-up reworking that games sequels used to.
Ended up seeing Akira.
What a soundtrack, huh?
Probably can’t make it, but honestly feels a little weird these days to see MCM with actual Anime Programming these days.
More 7, I’m afraid!
Kaguya will probably not leave you sitting thinking “wait, was that a Cyber Formula reference?”, though.
Kinda presume Kaguya probably changes the equation on what is considered good for this kind of thing in the intermediate months, but I’m still procrastinating on watching that until a spoiler leaves my head.
LRT - I saw Labyrinth twice at SLA last year - it’s like one of those Hosoda internet movies except written like an episode of Earth Maiden Arjuna.
This probably sounds like a bad thing but I mean the opposite.
(It borrows an awful lot of visual language from Arjuna as well. Wild-ass movie)

(Honestly, it might have been my favourite new anime movie I saw last year, but I fully appreciate that’s probably a bit of a sicko view)
I liked this a lot more than ChaO to be honest. Kawamoris super-referential to his previous works in this in a lot of fun ways, and even if you aren’t familiar, it’s still pretty wild. Also, best seen with an audience.
Still, kinda wild it’s playing at all three of the central cinemas in the nearest city to me. Would never have believed that could happen 20 years ago.
Pondering if I can be bothered to catch a theatrical screening of Akira tomorrow. On the one hand, it’s been a while, on the other hand, honestly not sure I ever need to sit through Akira again.
Listening to the most recent episode of Tom Scott’s Lateral and amused when he pulls out the term “Hammer Space”. Kinda wonder if that’s a term even used in the yoof anime spaces these days…
I'm not sure even Tomino would have a name like this.
Related to sticking a movie up where people might not have seen the show, I think the K-On movie opening scene is maybe one of the best examples of putting across what your characters are about in an extremely short window of time in a way that feels relatively natural within the tone of the movie.
I thought this was doctored until I went and checked Twitter myself.
I'm still laughing at this ending 10 mins later.
I guess it has me for one more episode, at least.
On the one hand, a real Villain here. On the other hand, maybe the only character in this show I actually like so far.
This is from Killed Again, Mr. Detective, and if you tapped out after the absurdity of last weeks Clown Murder, this weeks episode goes from relatively inane to having a fairly bonkers ending.
I'm not sure even Tomino would have a name like this.
Oh huh, apparently they announced a third season of Playdate games.
