Fact. Dunning-Kruger effect.
I talk a lot about how rules of writing aren't rules, they're guidelines. Important to note, those guidelines change over time. Just as language evolves, so does storytelling, and advice that is salient now doesn't necessarily apply to earlier works written for different audiences. The rules change.
What Queer activism of the 70s/80s teaches about our response to Trump.
Direct action and confrontation works.
Queer citizens have to be out and vocal.
We can’t afford to worry about being “respectable”.
Educating other Americans about who we really are is vital.

Had a handful of homophobic/transphobic messages here today because I’ve created a Starter Pack supporting LGBTQIA+ writers.
Please follow and share this pack to help keep Bluesky the positive place it promises to be.

The truth in one sentence.
A drawing comparing the height of the Eiffel Tower to the Empire State Building to the CN Tower to Burj Khalifa until a huge pile of books at the end towers over the lot of them which says books I want to read.
Pretty much, yep.
Theatre books which I refer to frequently when making work;
7. The Field of Drama - Martin Esslin
Short and very readable - Esslin lays out the range of ‘signs’ by which an audience ‘reads’ a performance. It’s also a handy check list of all the elements a playwright can use when writing a play.
A restaurant board sign that reads: “we are not all in the same boat. We are in the same storm. Some have yachts. Some have canoes. And some are drowning. Just be kind and help when you can.
I love this.

Totally agree Andrew, gripping!
Eventually you have to accept that no matter how many different notebooks you buy, they won’t make you a better writer. For that, you need to spend a lot of money on the right pen.
I'd be wary of ever posting information like this publicly. Scammers love this level of detail!
A recent photo of the river Exe and some trees in the mist.
Sorry, I apologise for posting Exe/tree/mist views on Bluesky.
A draft of playwrights?
Since there are so many new folks over here these days, it’s time to once again roll out my How to Write a Horror Movie crash course!
I’d love to be added! Playwright based in London UK.

A very short monologue I wrote about the Irish Civil War was recorded by Green Curtain Theatre. It was quite a challenge as you only had 300 words to play with!
