Happy Tax Day, New York. We’re taxing the rich.
This looks great, as someone on UC in this position, its great to see people looking at the details with some practical empathy. thanks to all involved!
A lot riding on the so-called 'Right to Try' regs
Good to see SSAC’s detailed scrutiny result in it being beefed up in useful ways, after 4 of our 5 recommendations were accepted

Just what we don't need. Already, our rivers are overloaded with both human and livestock waste, leading in many cases to #rivercide. Now the government, responding as always to lobbyists, wants to make it worse. Then it wonders why it loses public support. www.theguardian.com/environment/...
NEIGHBOR [peering out window]: looks like WaPo is interviewing that unfuckable tent guy
Peter Mandelson's official role in Gordon Brown's government was actually not that far away from his unauthorised dealings with Jeffrey Epstein. This week's column digs up some inconvenient truths and suggests the problem is much deeper than we're told.

Former Number 10 comms chief Matthew Doyle – who was recently given a peerage by Keir Starmer – has the whip suspended over his ties to a padeophile.
No, not *that* paedophile. A different one.

Screenshot of Wes Streetings twitter account where hes posted a picture of his mum and Peter mandelson in a home kitchen. He has captioned it "when Mandy met my mum".
Uh huh...
What do you call someone whose instinct, confronted by evidence that their policies are contributing to a massive increase in deaths, is to cover it up? And should that person be a Labour Minister? Or in prison?
Mandelson wants the BBC to report that he denies everything, but for some reason does not want to go on the record denying everything.
Hot Take 2: if this is Mandelson's position, there is no reason for him not to issue a statement to this effect. If he has not issued a statement to this effect, the BBC's "understanding" of his actual position may be inaccurate. Stop letting people play this game.
Mandelson leaked No 10 documents to Epstein - who then helped him pursue a $4m job

A round, light brown tablet made of clay with three lines of cuneiform scripts. Two rulings, or traced straight lines, enclose the writing. The photo also shows the sides of the tablet, including a few damaged parts.
May as well dive right in.
Did you know that dogs in ancient Mesopotamia also refused to drop the ball?
According to a Sumerian proverb, “The dog understands ‘Take it!’ It does not understand ‘Put it down!’”

Imagine what’s happening in the camps.
The Washington Post published a clear video of federal agents removing Alex Pretti's handgun moments before he was fatally shot. There's nothing in the video to suggest Pretti even reached for his weapon.

The BBC coverage is absolutely terrible.
It leads on "sharply contested narratives"
It has a dramatic skew to the US government
It has posted the video but has failed to report on what it shows: it shows the US govt account is untrue
Palantir was a warning sign.
Keir Starmer choosing to hand our data and security to US tech companies is an outrageous failure of judgment.
All in the name of "investment." What about national security?
Protesters snatched from the streets after being interviewed on TV.
This isn't some foreign dictatorship. This is the United States.
BBC journalists have been banned from describing the kidnapped Venezuelan leader as having been kidnapped.
The BBC News Editor has sent this to BBC journalists.

The crime of genocide didn't exist until after WW2. It was something we decided was real, needed to be identified and punished. Even if we've been spectacularly bad at putting it in practise, we conceptualised it.
I think it's about time for a CEO crime of murder-by-Economy.
This was just posted by a CBS News producer on their Instagram stories.
Plaid have won a massive victory in the Caerphilly by-election beating Reform comfortably.
The Labour vote has totally collapsed.
It seems that in Caerphilly more people feared those who oppose immigration than the immigrants themselves.
Who will blow the whistle on the scandalous suppression of the facts about public money creation? The definitive truth is staring us in the face but neither economists, civil servants, politicians nor media (@benchu.bsky.social?) will acknowledge it

it appears that @bsky.app have suspended the account of @jessiegender because a trans person saying "I wish ill on JK Rowling" is against the rules, so let me say with my loud cis voice that I too wish ill on all perpetrators of hate speech against trans people
reinstate Jessie, this is ridiculous
The Home Secretary says “This isn’t about Palestine.”
But everyone can see the truth.
They’re arming a genocide and criminalising those who speak out.
This is how fascism begins.
We must stand up. For Palestine. For all our rights. For democracy.
