Decent place to start learning game dev! It honestly isn't a major jump from that to working with a modern engine.

Did I somehow miss something Mara Jade related?
A while back, I sat down with one of the devs behind Tombwater, the new Zelda-like, Soulsborne with a western twist.
I decided to hold off on posting it till we were closer to release, which is actually today! So go play Tombwater, and watch my interview with Max Mraz here:

Fucking monsters...
The answer is always yes.
And if anyone says no, you don't need that kind of negativity in your life...
If you use GitHub (especially if you pay for it!!) consider doing this *immediately*
Settings -> Privacy -> Disallow GitHub to train their models on your code.
GitHub opted *everyone* into training. No matter if you pay for the service (like I do). WTH

There's a little under 10 HOURS left before submissions close! Best of luck to everyone!
You absolutely should! But I will tell you, you are absolutely not prepared for what you'll see in BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER 3: I OPENED A PORTAL TO HELL IN THE FAVELA TRYING TO REVIVE MIT AIA I NEED TO CLOSE IT...
Also it is incredibly difficult to fit that title into a post twice.
That title of course being BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER 3: I OPENED A PORTAL TO HELL IN THE FAVELA TRYING TO REVIVE MIT AIA I NEED TO CLOSE IT.
If you do not say the full title of BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER 3: I OPENED A PORTAL TO HELL IN THE FAVELA TRYING TO REVIVE MIT AIA I NEED TO CLOSE IT every time, then you are not doing BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER 3: I OPENED A PORTAL TO HELL IN THE FAVELA TRYING TO REVIVE MIT AIA I NEED TO CLOSE IT justice.
Hey look, NVIDIA's new "make your games run like shit, while somehow looking more vomit-inducing" tech has dropped.
Hate this.
Sadly, I am not there physically, but I will be working all weekend on edits for SR's SXSW coverage, so I'll be there in spirit!
If you wanted to ship them, I could be persuaded...
Words cannot begin to express how much I need a Resident Evil Outbreak remake to happen...
Rook is an interesting concept, and is well designed, but it is clearly a less fun option IMO. Worth giving it a go though!
Having played a little bit solo, it is fun. But it is definitely something you should be playing with a full squad. Doesn't feel super solo friendly, despite having an entire build designed around it.
Took a break from work, and decided to spend it like this instead of doom-scrolling.
You don't really grasp just how fragile this design is until you build a model and it has to deal with the realities of gravity. If I look at this thing wrong the saucer and nacelles fall off...
I still love it.
Unless that job is located somewhere where $10 can buy you a week's worth of food, that ain't gonna fly...
Between working on learning how to hand paint pixel art textures, and checking out all the awesome demos released as part of Steam Next Fest, I'm in quite the game development mood...
🚨Shutter Story's Kickstarter campaign is LIVE NOW! 🚨
It's a horror game where you examine a family's photo album for signs of the paranormal.
Reposts hugely appreciated 🙏❤️ Kickstarter link below!
It's LeVar Burton's birthday. Read a book.
Just not good.
That is indeed true, but this movie tries to hard to BE the game it's an adaptation of.
Nearly all of the mechanics are represented here, in their entirety. For example, there is an extended sequence where we watch her scour the mortuary for the sigils. During which, basically nothing happens.
As someone who absolutely adores the game, I really wanted to like this movie. Sadly, I don't think I'll ever be revisiting it.
At least the game is still there for me to enjoy.
Don't get me wrong, there were some high points. The Mortuary itself felt well realized and sufficiently spooky, and Willa Holland did the best she could with what she was given.
The problem is, she wasn't given anything all that appealing.
The movie insists on sticking to the game's mechanics so closely (while at-best haphazardly incorporating the lore of the game) that it felt less like a proper narrative experience, and more like watching the most un-fun let's play of the game imaginable.
When video games get adapted into film badly, fans often argue that it's because they didn't stick close enough to the source material.
The Mortuary Assistant's movie adaptation is a prime example of the opposite being true.
Trump's approval ratings are low so... they're going to stop reporting his approval rating.
Can't make this complict shit up any more.
Very nicely done!
Got a little announcement!! 🚨
