🏁 That’s a wrap on the 2026 legislative session!

This one was defined by the power of advocacy. ✊ Hoosiers were more engaged than ever before, helping to secure hard-fought victories even as the Statehouse remains a Republican supermajority.

The House announced just days before a major holiday that they will vote next week on a bill that hasn’t been filed — to redraw maps that haven’t been released. This is bad governance in the extreme. Hoosiers deserve fair maps. And they deserve transparency.

Long-term detention of immigrants is harming their physical, mental health Detained immigrants are experiencing deteriorating physical and mental health. Policymakers should reconsider long-term detention practices.

“Of the 1,400 immigrants arrested in Indiana in the first six months of this year, somewhere around 70% had no criminal legal contact,” said Lisa Koop, national director of the NIJC’s legal services and an adjunct law professor at Notre Dame.

A study released earlier this year found in states that implemented near-total abortion bans since 2022 - including Indiana - domestic violence increased up to 10 percent.

Trump’s authoritarian agenda is not popular. His big, ugly bill is not popular. Ripping health care away from millions of Americans is not popular.

As @aoc.bsky.social explains, he and Republicans are weaker than they look. Democrats must stand strong and refuse to cave.
