I would prefer we stop making software and hardware for idiots.
But the classroom still needs that teacher that knows the Ss in front of them. Knows the subject, understands the curriculum and exam board requirements.
The thing is, having reliable computer assisted marking is doable. Having something to assist with the regular classroom admin also is possible. It doesn't require the use of a handful of US corps who are just stealing data, taking money and using customers as test subjects.
There is no AI product out there that could replace a classroom teacher now. I'd bet anything on that.
Nothing out there could respond to the wide range of needs within a single classroom. None will have been trained on the correct data to cope with the situations that arise.
Having a computer mark work is not new.
Having a computer mark work and give feedback based off unverified shite it's scrapped from the web is not the great product they pretend it is.
Tired of seeing how AI is supposed to be changing things, fixing things, improving things.
In many of the cases of the new or improved products appearing with some AI element they're not new. They're replacing existing systems, and people. replacing safeguards. Replacing quality for quantity
Which do the Ss read more? Their once, twice or at most 3 times a year report. Often coming AFTER the work is done. Or their classbooks? Moodle profile? Other place they stick their work?
The fact that there I know of several who would go apeshit if they thought you'd used a comment bank. I know of some that wouldn't accept report comments that were too similar.
If you think "depersonalising" will help the Ss, where the fuck have you been? Where the hell have you been working? Have you ever worked with humans before?
Now, I would love to hear that head and all others thoughts on using AI to write reports.

I'd say that I can't imagine working at a school where a HT talks about 'depersonalisation' so much. But that just isn't true. And it's depressing.
Have another idea for something to 'write up'. Don't know what I'd do with it, where i'd put it or why. I guess part of the 'why' is my own MH, get some of these thoughts out of my head. But then theres the part of me telling me its pointless (for so many reasons!) & it's not going to pay the bills
