also, for added context, what made me finally post this to express my confusion was someone saying this about a simple mirage + acceltra prime setup. (i'm sure the devs are aware you can use aoe weapons on mirage)

sorry maybe i wasn't very clear, people not wanting nerfs is understandable, my confusion comes from the hesitation to discuss "strong" things because "DE will nerf it!" when they just... don't really do it that often? definitely nowhere near as often as other games

fair, but also with the changes to how LoS works in general added in dante unbound as well as counterbuffs whenever they do add LoS checks like you said it's pretty easy to play around them. imo they're kinda hard to notice half the time unless you're actively trying to trigger them

definitely an insanely confusing decision to make a br mode of all things. i get they tried to make it different but they could've marketed it as something actually new. without loot drops it's more like a multi-team btb, so they should've just announced it as a btb evolution instead of that pr nuke

yeah it's really unfortunate imo but in hindsight it was kinda just doomed from the beginning. they had two groups of people to please and they landed right outside the venn diagram of not pleasing either of them and just kinda fading into obscurity instead

i think the permanent problem with splitgate is you can either balance the game around the 50 people that want nothing to do with anything other than perma portals or you can balance it around arena shooter players, at the end of the day the majority of people aren't gonna like it anyway

-players playing the game they don't interact with any of it. they just sit in a portal wall and mash out 4 portals and when they're out they stand still and maybe slide down a slope and then complain about the cooldown making them have to pause, like.. no? you can interact with the rest of the game

starting to realize that "pro" splitgate players are terrified of the portal changes because they lack fundamental arena shooter game sense. none of them want to actually interact with the arena shooter aspect. there's so much cool movement tech you can do in splitgate 2 and watching "high level"-
