Anyone on here do gardening and know of these are weeds or garden plants coming up? We moved in this past autumn and are uncertain what may or may not come up this spring. There were tomatoes, zinnias, jalapeños, and thyme growing in the garden last year that we were aware of 🤷‍♀️

Everyone else has violets blooming in their yard and ours refuse to come up. To whom can I send my complaint?

Skunk & Badger is one of my very favorite chapter books. I think it is genius.

AP never writes one of the letters, but she is written *to* and it is implied that she has a semi-regular correspondence with the main character.

I liked The Correspondent but I found her use of real people writing letters to be odd! Ann Patchett is on the cover as an endorsement and is technically a character in the book.

When I was in my 20s and living alone, 2010s Twitter was like a fun roommate. Lowkey hangout that exposed me to new and fun stuff that I wouldn’t know otherwise. I made lots of IRL friends from Twitter and it was definitely a benefit to my community and did not detract from it.

I was more than a casual fan and still found it to be a very easy exit point. We even did a big COVID rewatch of all the movies, but that doesn’t meant I ran out to watch the next new one whenever that came out.

Middlemarch is basically “if you give a mouse a cookie” but the mouse is egoism and the cookie is a pier-glass minutely and multitudinously scratched in all directions placed against a lighted candle such that the scratches will seem to arrange themselves in a fine series of concentric circles

Movies about female relationships with some music just never work for Disney! Like that flop, Frozen!

You can’t even do the requisite amount of crying needed to complete an MFA in two days

No one is out here offering a PhD in a day for $275

Listen, maybe it only bugs me because I paid tens of thousands of dollars for my MFA, but the kidlit community has
got to stop this “MFA in a Day,” “MFA-style,” “mini MFA” phrasing for A WEEKEND CONFERENCE

I think the answer to this is Substack but unfortunately there are the obvious drawbacks.

Weather dot com has an April Fool’s “retro cast” with a 90s style display, but the joke’s on them because it’s the first time their site has been readable in 10 years (the retro cast has no ads)

So did the Tournament of Books fall out of favor? I am used to it being a major social media *event* but I haven’t seen a single post about it this year.

Oh how very sad! I really enjoyed his work.

It is still going on! I am less familiar with contributors and titles, but it’s still there!
