No I think you haven’t carefully considered your positions because you haven’t said an actual specific reason why you don’t like big data generally. At least one of the other guys brought up a legitimate problem with algorithm manipulation. Use a scalpel not a sledgehammer

Nah I’m just trying to get this guy to think about his positions beyond a disgust response. There are legitimate things to ban from being used in big data like apt rental prices. There is a company that uses it to get landlords to maximize rents and become a cartel. Ban that for sure

It’s not an alternative use case. It is THE reason big data exists. No one makes money off large datasets because they fed it art and writings gathered across social media. That’s just not what it’s for

You’re describing a problem with predatory algorithms not big data since the companies that use the algorithms also own the data that goes into the algorithms because they got it from their own site. I agree those should be regulated! Also orthogonal to the conversation
