Does anyone know how to contact digital ocean's abuse address without the XARF report requirements as I have no clue how to get that working.

We're getting aggressively scraped by over 1000 (likely compromised) digital ocean IP addresses and mailing their abuse@ address […]

A bit sad to see so many dice roll entries for the fast music compo :(

Would've been a lot more fun if they would play the songs both speeds to show it works on both, I like the technical aspect

A photo of a vintage computers sitting on a messy wooden table in a large event hall. In between the keys of the keyboard there are various fotos taken of me doing various activities. In the display X11 is running and showing classics such as xeyes and xlogo. There is also a comment prompt open and it looks like the machine has been hacked in it

Noted, the gate didn't actually have a payment terminal in it. But it just opened right as I drove up to it because it detected my plate

I think you may have to pay somewhere else in the building?

Just in case, but if you try to leave a gated parking garage in Germany and it just opens the gate without asking you to pay... Was it actually free? Like it did scan my license plate..

Or did I just scam a parking garage? Kinda worried if I just broke the law but I was expecting the gate to […]

@marnie If I remember in a few days I'll look up the IC used and let you know ^^

@marnie I was quite surprised as well they were this affordable, but I guess all it really needs to do is do some power conversion and use a PCIe USB bridge.

It being PCIe 3.0 probably helps a lot too with finding a cheap IC, or maybe it's PCIe 2.0 x2? Either way 3.0 x1, or 2.0 x2 both will […]

@marnie Cheap ($15) USB-C 10Gbps to CF Express adapter.

I think it uses a USB to PCIe bridge internally, so I assume the loss of bandwidth comes from overhead and limitations of this chip.

I would check which IC shows up in System Report but I have just packed it away for a trip tomorrow morning

I thought this as well, but this card had no issue having its 1TB written at a sustained speed of 850MB/s. It's specs tell me it's 3D TLC

The flash might still be of higher quality though, I assume that's definitely part of the reason. Maybe these manufacturers have a large amount of […]

Like... what is the reason NOT to get these, but get a 500 euro one instead with similar specs?

Is it simply reliability you're paying the price for?

A screenshot from a terminal window that has ran f3read (a storage utility for verifying advertised storage capacity matches actual accessible storage). It came back with all 1TB (953.24GB) being readable with no defects, at a speed of 845MB/s (the limit of my reader)

Does anyone know what's up with the affordable CFExpress Type-B cards, what's the catch?

They all seem to be PCIe 3.0 (CFExpress 2.0), offer sustained 1GB/s speeds at 1TB or above and are €200/TB or even less. (Which is at least 50% cheaper than competitors)

Genuinely feels like there is some MacOS software bug that caused a loud pop to be sent to the speakers, and the speakers can't handle the volume so they break 😭😭

This is the second time one of the spakers in my MacBook Pro 16" (2023) has killed itself wtf

I had some background music on at 10% volume, suddenly I heard a really loud pop and now my left speaker has no bass anymore

Had this same situation a little over a year ago too! Had to get it replaced

Sara is taking a mirror selfie with her new Mastodon T shirt. On it is a cartoon version of the Birth of Venus painting by Botticelli, where the Venus is a yellow Mastodon mascot. Next to the painting are the words "I write ALT text". Under this text is a scene well described by smaller text, also printed on the shirt below the design: "A red Mastodon excitedly describes the Birth of Venus painting to a green Mastodon carrying a cane and wearing dark glasses."

Never had this happen before

Other pools and datasets weren't affected, even other datasets on the same underlying physical storage didn't have any issues

Just... that one dataset made everything I/O lockup if you tried to access it.

Waiting for the machine to come back online now...

3 weeks ago 0 0 0 0

Just managed to get my FreeBSD based NAS to I/O lockup so badly that the only thing that shut it down was a forced shutdown..

All I did was just mess around with zfs compression options and that froze access to the entire dataset on that zpool :blobdisguise:

A screenshot from a SRS (Spaced Repetition System) website, if shows the amount of reviews due has been going down in the graph (less grey, more green). It however also still says there are 307 reviews due, showing there is still work ahead.

At the bottom it shows the following statistics:
- 997 Words Studied
- 359 Characters Studied
- 653 Study Sessions
- 19,194 Reviews
- 2.1 Words per Day
- 75% Retention Rate

Finally picking my Chinese language studies back up, after neglecting it for the last few months

I feel so rusty, but once I'm through the backlog I can start making my way to HSK3 again

For those still following along, the results from the RIVM are back. I was sick from the Human Metapneumovirus (hMPV), which would check out symptom wise and matches the period of the year

Better now though thankfully :)

This is a screenshot of the video of what it's trying to tell others what is happening

But I really don't believe this to be correct? Am I simply misinformed?

Please tell me if I'm wrong, but I don't think this video is correct at all?

It argues that the ISO option in front of a camera works like a variable amplifier between the sensor and the ADC. But from my personal […]
