Go for it. Shouldn’t be too hard and will teach you at a deep level how the technology works.

Alright, I’ll bite. What’s the best nostr iOS client? #nostr

It’s pretty easy to implement your own! The trick in making a good ban list is identifying the bots.

From what I understand you could host your own PDS and post anything you want. The Bluesky client app may still filter out your posts, but different clients theoretically wouldn’t. But users anywhere can leverage the tools to create any kind of moderation filters they want.

There are TOO MANY b2b SaaS products. ServiceNow, Moveworks, Splunk, Cronos, SalesForce, HubSpot, Workday, etc.

Too many!! Why are there so many different CRM and automation tools? AND WHY DO EACH OF THEM REQUIRE A BACHELORS DEGREE WORTH OF JARGON AND TRAINING TO ADMINISTER??

Lmaoo I posted one of those awhile ago 😅 it was my motivation to build my automated block list

I take the political compass test usually once a year just to see how my believes evolve over time. I’d say this is pretty accurate for me.

I am offering 1 bitcoin (or 100k USD, whichever you want) to any team who successfully builds true P2P integration to a major Bluesky client. It means that the app should be able to still post, fetch and share Bsky posts even without a direct internet connection.

Totally agree. But honestly people separating themselves out onto different platforms like that wouldn’t be all that bad if those platforms were all interoperable. We aren’t there yet but to me it seems like that’s the direction we are going in.

But it’s too small and niche that I find there’s not much benefit to being on it compared to more successful protocols like atproto or activitypub

I mean anyone could make a nostr client without zap features. When I said they’re intrinsically linked I meant that nostr was mostly adopted in its infancy by bitcoiners, which is how we got zaps, it hasn’t grown as much as other protocols and to this day is used mostly by bitcoiners.

I think general hostility towards bitcoin on places like BlueSky and elsewhere stem from negative interactions with certain parts of the bitcoin community.
That or because most people rightfully view shitcoins as scams and don’t know enough to not lump bitcoin in with the same group.

Totally agree! I love bitcoin, It’s unfortunate that part of the community has seeded itself there, I find many positive bitcoiners here!

Having an alternative to switch to takes time, discussion, and playing around.

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

Yes I do. There are people doing it right now. Check out the Developer feed, people discuss it regularly. That doesn’t mean any of those projects will become successful, but people are playing around with the technology 100%

It would be, but activitypub isn’t perfect which is why new protocols like nostr and atproto are being created. It’s not bad to have competition of ideas. I hope activitypub is able to implement the improvements that atproto and nostr have made. Do that and make them obsolete.

And quite frankly it’s easier to launch a new app built on Atproto than it would be to fix issues like identity and data transfer on ActivityPub.

Atproto isn’t even 2 years old, and BlueSky has only just recently seen a boom in user signups. Other apps will come in time.

I get your point and you aren’t wrong. But at the same time you are being extremely critical of one specific issue and making a big stink about a problem that frankly will disappear over time.

You can use your handle to log into any #atproto application.

All your data is accessible outside #bluesky via the #atproto:

I've fixed a bug resulting in the real Mark Cuban being added to the block list. Sorry @mcuban.bsky.social

I agree it is very #atproto centric, but that's because the hashtag makes those posts appear in that feed. I do see posts about React, NextJS, Go, etc every now and again.

As a developer you're gonna love learning about the #atproto. If you are unfamiliar / haven't used federated social media before- its very cool to learn about. Cool technology under the hood here! That's what makes BlueSky cool comparatively.
