As Meta faces competition from companies like OpenAI and Google, Mr. Zuckerberg has increased the budget for TBD Lab, the skunk works unit at Meta that aims to build superintelligence, a godlike A.I. system.

NYT managing editor: "So, godlike AI system, what do we mean by this?"

NYT reporter: "“To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.”

Love Gaping Void but this one is a miss. Your work is your work. Especially in the U.S. it’s also how you get access to health care. If people remember me as a Program Manager when I die, I’ve lived badly.

This Thanksgiving, read a Native American poet’s song of healing When Allison Adelle Hedge Coke wrote her poem “America, I Sing Back,” she considered each word a note in a larger song about the nation. “I thought about America singing. That’s why this poem is a song -- a voice calling for reclamation.”

Reposted with alt text. Also, from a cursory look, this appears to basically be true, which is pretty funny. Philosophers... debate.

The Diné Weaver Who Turns Microchips Into Art Marilou Schultz, a math teacher and fourth-generation weaver, pushes the boundaries of the art form by combining technological aesthetics and Diné techniques.

STUNNING

"Traditionally, wearing blankets was functional, but I thought, If fashion evolves, why can’t Native wearable art evolve too? So I used metallic thread to make the blanket shimmer, adapting an old form to a contemporary aesthetic."

You hit on a distinction….theres a difference between play and games that gets overlooked almost always. I also can’t remember who said it (Koster?) but the opposite of play isn’t work, it’s boredom. Also I love Gadamer’s use of spielraum to refer to play as mental wiggle room (paraphrase) 🤓
