No FA XX announcement but what a way to close out Sea Air Space 2026
The secretary of the Navy is out. I don’t know why.
I don't take it off but I also don't think it's childish to. Use whatever PTO days you want for whatever reason you want.
The “discretionary spending” part of that blurb is actually very important in the points being made. A great deal of the defense budget is not discretionary in any real sense, but still must be paid, and it all comes out of that topline number each year.
Linux kernel 7.0 is out

Yeah, Linus is an American citizen and while Linux has many contributors from around the world, the same is true of Microsoft and Google. If France *really* wants to stick it to the U.S. they need to go one step further and adopt KDE as the desktop.
Yeah that was definitely my experience. On the other hand I knew the cards I was dealt and went to a cheaper school and still got the education I needed. And even then I worked to qualify for some of the scholarships based on grades, which helped greatly.
And yet people's perception of the economy was much more positive back then. Almost as if it has more to do with vibes than their actual lived experience.
This chart supports what he's saying, unless you're saying that people thought the economy was also in shambles in 2006.
International law was and is a thing outside of UNCLOS and other treaties. The U.S. calls it "customary international law" and, as customary law, applies to all nations including the U.S. and Iran. Blockades were acts of war before UNCLOS for this very reason.
The Calvin's dad explaining records meme. He is explaining that the two kinds of meme are Calvin's dad and Loss. Despite being a meme about Calvin's dad, this one is Loss.
My son is 11,autistic, and obsessed with Minecraft. I manage a team of 4 Database Engineers. At some point I started to talk to them like how the parenting courses told me to communicate with my son and the team morale and overall performance has shot up so much we got an award
rename all the Robert E Lee shit in Virginia for George Thomas, the Virginian General who stayed loyal to the union and kicked the Confederacy's ass.
Yes, because there was a law of naval warfare before UNCLOS and ratifying or not ratifying UNCLOS does not change it. UNCLOS builds on it, but the parts it builds on are not missing if a country doesn't ratify. They are there and apply to every nation including the U.S.
“Customary international law” (the law the U.S. and other countries follow, and which is codified by UNCLOS) does not permit attacks on neutral merchant vessels, even if those neutral countries are on good terms with a country's enemies.
Goes great with www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNIX...
I think the idea is that peoples' livelihoods depend collectively on aggregates like GDP to go up, not just stay constant. The "companies as cancer" claim. I don't think this is true (GDP can go up with no actual change in goods/services if inflation occurs) but I think that's the logic to this.
Also, cockroaches were a huge problem everywhere back then. Not saying they don't exist now but it's now incredibly rare for me to see them and, uh, it wasn't incredibly rare when I was a kid.
No that's basically what the U.S. says. It's how they train their naval officers (who, after all, need to know the U.S.'s understanding of "international waters" vs. "territorial waters" in the course of their duties).
I would never self-diagnose... but all 3 of my male children are either on the spectrum or were once diagnosed as such. But I did well in the Navy based more on my ability to focus on detail and stay focused on the mission than on my social skills... hmm...
Nah, I've seen them both on the same car. Though military recruiting is a bit uneven so there are definitely spots in the country where this would be less common.
Was just about to post the exact same thing!
jesus fucking christ they got a sentry???
An "exploded" computer, showing all its modular parts on yellowy-orange background. Underneath you can see Framework's logo.

I mean, the professional military education system we already had would teach you that much. The military advised against this, as I recall from earlier reporting.
If anything used EVs are an even better value than used ICE-powered cars. EVs sadly depreciate faster so far, but the flipside is that it makes the used EVs a great deal.
Oh man I remember how people gave the Navy shit for this a few years ago.
The biggest thing that no one listed yet is you just... never have to go to the gas station anymore. I used to be irritated at having to stop for gas on the way to or from work, but now nothing stops me from going where I'm headed unless it's a long road trip.
Honestly I've been using my EV since 2019 with the boring travel charger in my driveway. It would be rough if I had a longer commute than 30 mi/day but it was such a better experience we got a second one last year (and split time on the travel charger, lol).
