i went to the australasia carnivorous plant society’s annual plant fair and i got three great nepenthes (and spent all my money)
i’m considering everything except giving my platycerium superbum (staghorn fern) away
i’ve moved the plant shelf again just because everything was getting a little too hot in front of the window so now it’s off to the side. I still have room for plants in the future but it’s limited space!!
it’s hard to get good photos but i also got this hairy boy. if all goes according to plan it will eventually grow into a huge hairy man. I have never had any of the hairy guys before so this will be interesting
loving this little complex hybrid because it has little slits in the lid of the trap. This is a seed grown hybrid purchased from a mysterious old wizard, just like all of my plants
just a lil’ guy
the gentleman i impulse bought two plants from emailed me saying he’s shipped it today and given me a free upgrade. a salesman at heart! and he was right to do it because now i want to get something crazy from him
i still have space
i have a carnivorous plant fair coming up in april and i told myself i wasn’t going to buy anymore carnivorous plants until then but i got kicked in the head by a horse as a child
tho i grow a lot of carnivores, I haven't grown flytraps in a long time. i had one typical plant when i first started out that I kept alive for a few years but after too many dog pee incidents it sadly passed away and i never replaced it until recently. I’ve had this plant since september.
some more flytrap pics. I love the red blushing in their leaves and sometimes their teeth!
the killer and her string
some other sarracenia hybrids, S. courtii and ‘Judith Hindle’. They always look their best in autumn
S. purpurea looking great just before winter dormancy
i have to divide my flytraps this year
this big mantis (officially called Large Brown Mantis) has been chilling on my balcony for the last week or so. She is very interested in my sarracenias
can you believe water lilies are real
i am at the botanic gardens judging the carnivorous plant display. It could be better
something a little different, a Dendrobium Speciosum (Sydney Rock orchid/rock lily) which is a native. They can take 5-10 years to flower from seedling (lol) but that is fine with me :)
Barbara used her tree for the first time last night
the bagged brothers….. hopefully this protects them from pitcher loss while they adjust
yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes
getting really into the stars lately. Might start predicting things.
just thought i saw a whimsical little insect flying and stopped to see what it was and it was a cockroach. Never mind!
i ordered 6 seedlings and i cannot reveal how much they cost or the people will rise up and revolt against me
i say this and yet i don’t have any seeds. What could growing these plants from seed entail? oh you know, just 6-8 weeks of nothing and then in your 9th, maybe a seedling, but watch out, it can be killed by two microscopic fungus gnat larvae and a sudden drop in temperature of 1 degree
just kidding this plant is unique and rare and by cultivating it for its seed and donating them to your international plant society you are safegurding it against ecological collapse
i work so that i can afford to give my cat the best in life and so i can buy a plant species that doesn’t have a nice flower, grows one inch per year and contributing to my local area’s declining insect population
LMFAO FUCKKK thank you
