i actually feel targeted by the fact that the plot of this is him running around okinawa

like you can't think hits:kudos can be 1:1 or even 2:1 bc if it's a chaptered fic and you post once a week, every time someone visits that's a new hit but they can't leave a new kudos. if someone rereads a fic, that's a new hit. at very BEST, hits:kudos is gonna be like 10:1 and that would be CRAZY.

a fic with 500 hits gets 20 kudos, 5 bookmarks, and 2 comments? it's performing insanely well compared to anyplace else bc views is inherently always going to be more than interaction. some "low-performing" numbers on fic are interaction levels i would have gotten promoted for.

5% interaction is considered crazy high. brands would cheer if their posts consistently got a 5% interaction rate. one time i managed a 10% clickthrough on an email and i got a $500 bonus. you know how many people i got to click on that email? like 200.

10% of 500 hits is 50.

i think people have kind of unreasonable metrics in their head for what's "well performing" with regards to an interaction on something. in digital marketing, we think stuff is high-performing when it has a 2-5% interaction rate. for ao3, that's bookmarks+kudos+comments divided by hits.
