Social media is not social experience. The bread and butter of companies like Meta is pulling peoples attention onto their platforms. Once here, our attention is harvested for ad revenue. We are led to believe that this is all a social interaction, but are we really spending time with anyone at all?

The value of land is immeasurable. Towns, counties, states, conservancy organizations, land trusts should hold on to as much public hand to be held and used for public good. Whether it’s losing the common at Copley or hundreds of thousands of acres in Utah and Arizona, public land is for the public.

I once took part in a protest movement that I thought would help bring about a more economically egalitarian society. It could have, but it lacked demands. When the time comes for a general strike, we need coherent demands. Not too reductive, not awash in causes. This is about saving our democracy.
